    Welcome to Eckeff.

I notice people are suggesting a Direct Lung style of vape and gear setup, but I'm not entirely sure that's your best route if you're looking for a decent throat hit. The concentrated inhale of smoke when smoking isn't going to resemble a DL vape at all. DL simulates smoking a hookah if you've ever done that. I think your best bet would be to go with an MTL setup, whether it be pod mod or a kit, and get some 20ish mg salt nic. Maybe a 50/50 VG/PG juice with some menthol in it.

Some MTLers will have to chime in on gear suggestions. I think a GeekVape Boost Plus Pod Kit would be a decent and cheap option (if you're interested in external battery setups). I think the Innokin Sensis was also a popular choice for MTLers. Low Wattage, high Ohm, tight draw and inhale like a cig.

What are you currently using specifically?

    Hey Oz66.

I'm new to the forum too. Glad you're getting the advice you need.

One thing I found useful was to up the PG content of the liquid I was using to get more of a throat hit. And nicotine salts, rather than standard freebase nicotine, were a great way to get more of an intense nicotine hit.

I wrote a blog on the subject a while back actually. Hope this helps :)

Hi everyone, I've recently started vaping to quit smoking. I've smoked on and off for 30 years, but during the months I was able to quit, I always felt deprived (except when I was pregnant, it was easy not to smoke then). I've done gum, patches, mouth spray, hypnosis, you name it. I recently started vaping, and it is way easier than any other method I've tried (even though I live in Australia where you need a doctor's prescription to vape but can buy cigs at the supermarket). I have half a pack of cigarettes in the drawer, and have smoked two in the last month (the last one tasted revolting). I no longer stink, no longer cough, and my neighbours are much happier now I'm exhaling clouds of vanilla-scented vapor rather than cigarette smoke. I think I might finally do it, but just have two niggling questions:

    - I vape a lot more often than I smoked because I can do it inside. I also used to hold off smoking if my neighbours were on their deck or in their yard so as not to annoy them, and that's no longer an issue. Has anyone got any tips on how to limit vaping so it doesn't become an all-day habit?

    - I don't get quite the same throat hit as I did with cigs, and oddly I really miss it. I vape a pod system so the level of nicotine and the heat is not adjustable, would love any advice on this as well.

Thanks so much and hope everyone is staying safe and well!
