The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation. It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me. And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man. Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.
– 2 Samuel 22:47-50

This Scripture that Bill posted today has me wondering..........I am probably wrong, but here is my quandry. Let me rephrase the first full sentence by adding in specifics.

The Lord Jesus liveth; and blessed be my Rock; and exalted be Almighty God (the Father) of the Rock of my salvation. (Jesus)

It's interesting and I don't want to add to or take away from. Please remember that Samuel was a prophet. What say you? (I can't get blue on my letters!)

IMO: this is my take on "Rock of my salvation"

    1. Salvation is given by God the Father.
    2. God the Father is the Rock He doesn't waver He is Stead Fast, Secure, Refuge, Hiding place, Fights our battles and Etc for us.
    3. Jesus is the needed Sacrifice for our sins, there is no other way to have the debt paid put by entering through the door way of Jesus Sacrifice and asking God for forgiveness and God being the Rock will forgive us and we are born again.
    4. Jesus is perfect in all His ways He didn't need forgiveness from the Father but He died in our place so we can be forgiven once and for ever.

This is my opinion for now.

It wasn't long after my making my post that my phone rang. It was MM (mightymen) and we discussed my post. He told me that he understood that I was speaking from a possible foreshadow verse. I told him that since you can see Jesus throughout the Old Testament, that it was possible that Samuel was speaking in the prophet mode. I know that Jesus is our Cornerstone, the foundation of our faith....the bridge to Almighty God. But there is a difference between a rock and cornerstone. And then it hit me like a ton of bricks! (It was like, "I could have had a v8!") Even though God is the rock and Jesus is the Cornerstone, both are important to building a sound foundation. You have to have a firm, solid rock bed before you can lay a cornerstone. God, as a rock, is immovable, unpenetrable, the same today as He was yesterday. He is a fortress who shelters and protects. He defends us. Jesus said, "The Father and I are One." Also, "When you see Me, you see the Father." One can see where I got my idea.

If anyone else has any comments, please feel free to do so! :)
