I have been using e-cigs for 2 weeks and they are working. Things that I have noticed
1. Dry mouth
2. sore throat(not bad)
3. Losing desire for real cigs.
4. Increased appetite. Just lost 50 lbs and worried that I will gain it all back.

I am using Greensmoke full strength. the samples of lower strengths felt like I wasn't doing anything, but the full strength ones feel too strong. I guess I have to try other strengths again.
Lots of questions.
What strength should I use?
Is it safe?
What is best E-Cig?

Mike

Make sure you drink plenty of water while you vape. E-juice sucks the water out of you.

Welcome to ecf and congrats for hitting 2 weeks.

As for juice strength, that's a personal decision. For me, 6mg is perfect. Others will fing 6 completely devoid of any use.

As for the best pv, once again, personal choice. As a starter, I'd suggest an eGo/ Riva type battery bevause of battery life and available options.

Good luck on your pv adventure.

Mike the best ecig is different for everyone. There are a lot of choices out there and some of us seem to develop the need to try them all. From what you say about the strengths you've tried I would suggest 12 or 18mg a medium strength. Most everyone buys the liquid separately from the cartridges and refills them.
DRINK LOTS OF WATER

The PG drys out your mouth and throad and drinking a lot of water should help.

BTW welcome to vaping:vapor: and ECF

Hi Mike, PLEASE do not give up. I'm new so I can't offer much advice except to tell you what I am using. EGO-T type A and smoking 24MG nicotine with 50/50 pg/vg. You may prefer more nicotine. I ordered my kit and juices from FreedomSmoke USA, but the kits are readily available other places too. I'm sticking with FreedomSmokes for my vape because I was given a bottle of nic juice made in China and it made me cough every time I vaped. Took it out and put my other juice in from FreedomSmokeusa and I'm not having any dry mouth, sore throat, or increased appetite. If anything this sweet vape is keeping me away from all the candy and cookies I LOVE to eat. Please keep looking at the forums, lots of great information and you will find something that works WELL for you! Take care.

I wanted to add that I smoked about a carton of cigarettes a week. a little over a pack a day of MB lights.

Welcome to ECF Mike!! Congrats on your first 2 weeks.

+1 on the suggestions for drinking more water. Most of the things you listed on fairly common when quitting smoking and switching to e-cigs.

From the chart I looked at, it looks like Greensmoke has an 808 threading. If that's correct, I would suggest buying replacement cartomizers (cartridges) from a cheaper supplier like Vapor4Life.com. Otherwise, you'll be paying more than double the cost getting them from Greensmoke. Also, you will find a lot more variety in flavor and strength. You may even want to start looking into refilling the ones you already have with e-liquid.

Happy vaping:)

Congrats Mike and keep at it. Definitely try to keep a bottle of water with you at all times. They say more water helps with losing weight anyway, but it'll help with the dry mouth.

There are hundreds if not thousands of different juices to try, you're bound to find one that will work for you. I was a pack a day, and have been doing well with 18mg from a few different vendors - no nic fits at all. As for my experience with PVs I've only owned a couple ego-Ts so far and have been happy with them. Your chosen method of juice delivery (carts, cartos, tanks, etc) will play a big role in what you think is "the best" experience.

Good luck with quitting analogs, and welcome to ECF :toast:

Mike - best to do a lot of reading on this forum. Any question you can think of has already been asked. Myself, I would recommend starting off with a Riva. Great battery life, will handle the low resistance atomizer/cartomizers.

As for nicotine, I started at 24mg. Went to 18 and then 12 and really could not tell a difference. Was probably using it move often. Then went to 6mg and that wasn't enough, so would use the 6 at home and 12 at work, golf course and the casino. After awhile I wasn't thinking about nic levels and was loading the flavor I wanted that day. So I guess it was all in my head and I only order 6mg now. Haven't gotten the urge to order no nic yet, but it's coming. :)

Good luck and do a lot of reading........... Hig

I have been using e-cigs for 2 weeks and they are working. Things that I have noticed ...
I'm at about two weeks, also.
I was prepared for the need for extra water, so the dry mouth and sore throat is something I can limit, by keeping my water bottle filled. (My doc wanted me to drink more water, anyway. (vs coffee))

I find I'm also coughing up a lot of the junk my throat accumulated, over the years.

Increased appetite -- My sense of smell is slightly recovered, but after decades of heavy smoking, I don't expect overnight results, there.
And (don't hate me), but I've been trying to gain weight. But I haven't really been binge eating.
(I think extra eating is just to keep the mouth occupied when you don't have a cig in it. The PV does that with fewer calories .... depending on your ejuice flavor. :D)

From 2-3 packs a day, I found that 24mg wasn't getting it done. I shifted to 36mg, which is pretty much as strong as anyone would want to vape, and that only if you have a high tolerance.
But I only use about 2ml a day.

I could probably use lower concentration if I were to chain vape, but that would just make the dry mouth and sore throat worse.

On safety, you'll hear a lot of gloom and doom from the FDA .... who is heavily funded by the cigarette industry, and stands to lose a lot of tax revenue.
What most MDs will say is that nicotine is about as harmful as caffeine. (Even oxygen is "toxic" at sufficient concentrations.) But that there's not a lot of statistical data yet.
Or, in other words, there's no indication that it's harmful, but they're covering their bases.
Of course, there *is* a point where nicotine becomes harmful, so keep track of your consumption.
(X mg/ml * Y ml/day = X*Y mg/day)
(My 72mg/day *looks* worse than the claimed "20mg per pack" in analogs, but the absorption rate is different.)

The "best e-cig" is .... what ever works best for you.
I'd like to be more specific, but there really are so many choices out there that you just have to find what suits your use and lifestyle.
I started with the full bore eGo-T type B tank system, which would last me 24 hours on one fill/charge.
But the big stack with the 1000mAh battery is a bit awkward to carry around.
I was thinking of trying a 510, but I found that the smaller eGo battery with a cartomizer is much more compact and still lasts me all day, but the carto gives less vapor and TH than the tank.
So you really have to just try one, and make adjustments as you go.

And, even if you splurge on hardware, at first, consider what you were paying for analogs, *every* year.
