I'd love to tell someone to stop something in my house and them call me an "abuser" and start spouting off internet links.It wouldn't end well for them.

Me saying that someone is going to follow the rules I have set for my house is in no way saying anything about my character. What if the rule was you can't start fires in the bathroom because it may burn the house down?

but to first state that "no smoking in the house" is a rule - which is later disproved by the ashtray in the kitchen with a pipe and bag of tobacco and utensils - and followed by the fact we are no longer smoking, we are vaping.

I have no idea where all this side chatter is coming from or going... but per the OP: Why do you care what other people think? Are you going to let other people dictate your behavior? Are you going to let them dictate that you do something harmful, which might even lead to your grave illness and/or early demise, rather than doing something relatively harmless in its place, which actually tastes and smells better?

Or, are you actually just looking for a face-saving way to go back to smoking?
If you really want to vape instead of smoke... then do that, and devil take the hindmost and other peoples' unsolicited opinions.
If you'd really rather smoke, then do that. The choice is yours.
But blaming going back to smoking on the opinions of other people... what a great way to dodge personal responsibility for your actions. Except that you will shoulder that responsibility, in your own health. If you get sick and die, what's it to those people with their unsolicited opinions?
