Seems like a lot of vape companies keep pushing the price boundary

Oh I wouldn't be buying it either or an otto carter for that matter....
But I am saying that I can see the value from a longevity standpoint...
Far more than a pile of other cheaper regulated devices...
It's upfront cost vs overall long term cost...

But I would pay that for a better, american made version with a lifetime warranty...
I've been using the same mech for almost 4 years now....as my one and only, all day, every day device...
If I could justify it I would by the updated model by the same manufacturer (telescopic for different battery sizes) and that costs $250
And then their rebuildable hybrid top is another $140...
So it's close enough in cost.....but if I don't have to replace it for...well....ever...that's totally worth it...

Wow! 14 bucks for a pack of smokes in NYC?? No wonder you and hubby quit! I was one of those smokers that never said "I'll quit when they are ...insert $$$ here...a pack" but when it went north of $7.00 here I decided that was enough. Between my hubby chewing and me smoking we were spending $15.00 a day. Hubby still chews, and I do have an occasional analog but cutting the tobacco budget in half has freed that money for other things...like more vape stuff! Even more expensive juices are still less than smoking, so well worth it to me.

Prices here are really insane. I've tried everything to be able to keep smoking and afford it. Driving to other counties and states, ordering online, we even had this guy once.... My mother got me my first ego after my grandmother died of lung cancer back in November. Compared to the stress of trying to be able to afford to smoke in NYC, the prices and the tinkering involved with vaping was nothing. Plus, all the tasty flavors! I've even lost weight since I vape my cheesecake now. Really, you need a six figure salary here to smoke, and the other options I mentioned above work out to be just as expensive due to gas and tolls, or is really inconsistent.

Roughly $16 for a pack over here. You think you guys have sin taxes? Come to Norway and have a smoke and a drink :toast:

Oh... and we can't legally buy nicotine liquids locally. We have to import those from EU countries. Order for more than ~$33 and you have to pay ~$43 in customs processing fees... and 25% taxes on top. Lots of small orders it is... and buy from vendors with low shipping fees :D

In the greater scheme of things, it's a choice. Some people are perfectly happy with cigalikes, egos and evods and some want their high end mods and toppers. There's cheap juice and expensive juice. Nobody held a gun to our heads to make us pick up smoking and nobody is holding a gun to our heads to make us vape. When you find a vape setup and juice in your price range, use it. I'm just as happy with my MPV and the vape experience as the guy next to me with the high $$ handmade setup or the other guy with the ce4 on an ego. We are always free to go back to smokes or quit all together. There's a market for all of us and what we want. If one shop charges too much go to another one.

Anybody notice this recently?

Jacking up the price on new PVs that come out, on new toppers that come out, on new juice that comes out...

It's like they're thinking, "How much can we get away with? How many people out there are stupid enough to pay this ridiculous price for this cheap piece of garbage? Everybody else is doing it, so let's keep pushing to find out!"

I know the vaping demand is there, but still..

Part of the reason why I quit cigs was to save money..

Sort of makes me want to quit vaping at some point, too, to be honest...

I agree ... and I think that some Chinese vendors are doing the same thing. I, for one plan to revolt if they keep it up. Consumers need to remind vendors that we continue to buy out of "want", not "need", and if push comes to shove, I can find a new hobby.

I also feel that a lot vendors get over on "newbie's" who have no idea what a reasonable price is for certain products .. and at the rate that this community is growing, there is no shortage of new vapers, and they will pay the higher price not knowing any better.

Glen I thought you had a ZNA, good luck you won't regret it.

OP I think you are underestimating the cost of producing the high end products, buying materials in small amounts, having machining done in small amounts, labor, most of these guys have a lot more than $40 in their mod that sells for $250. Not to say there are not gougers, the market will correct them.

Heck I think Zen has more than 20 workers, does in house machining and he has said he makes $60 on the $279 ZNA, and I believe him.

And good point on reselling, mid-high end mods hold their value exceptionally well, often selling well used for near or over the purchase price. Try to sell a used TV, diamond ring, or car, be lucky to get half the purchase price.

Ever try to sell a bag of cigarette butts, ash, and empty packs?
No ZNA yet, still trying. I only have a Z2 650 carto hybrid and a 510 top cap atm.
