20 gauge kanthal getting to hot

I notice when i use 20 gauge kanthal it burns up faster and drys my cotton out faster then 24g

i did a 7 wrap ended with .2 ohms anyone else experience this

My atty gets stupid hot using 22g kanthal. Single coil, ~.3 ohms. I can only imagine what 20g can do.

Yeah 20g is way to hot for me I cant us anything under 24g anymore to hot burns my tung

Its just the wire being too heavy and it stays hot longer drying out the wick, that much metal is going to stay hot long after you stop pressing the fire button

The lowest I use is 22 @ .2 and the point quickly comes when I have to set it down and cool off. I get maybe two maybe three fillings and then have to let it cool down.

hmmmmmmm....ya don't say! I tried .22 ga for about an hour. Nope, no thanks. I stays hot too long and dries out my wicks....long after I take my finger off the button.

I find using thicker gauges is only effective when your device is powerful enough to heat it instantly. Then a quuck 2-3 second rip and release. Takes maybe a second to come back down.
If ramp up time takes too long at lower wattages i feel you dried your wick up before the hit becomes satisfying.
I think if your device cannot effectively push 90-100 watts more or less its not worth it to use thicker gauges.
