Also, for lower ohm readings, the multimeters aren't that accurate either! Personally, I wouldn't trust any device that hasn't been professionally calibrated when working with resistances below about 0.3. The base error in the devices is too great to be certain about much when you're running that low, and a very small change in resistance is equivalent to an enormous change in amperage drawn from your battery.

(It's one of the reasons why I'm not a fan of extreme sub-ohming, but that's another story).

For "normal" resistance ranges of 1.0 or above, pretty much anything is accurate enough as long as you know the resistance of your leads (multimeter) or the box is calibrated properly to zero.

Thank you Morpheus... I will definitely keep that in mind. And its funny you say that, as one of the other departments at my job is constantly sending machines every week for calibration. As they have a need for measurements to be accurate to certain decimal places... it reminded me of the thread here... They have thousands of measuring devices, maybe I will bring my coils there and get them measured...lol..

Good to know though, I'll also follow your lead and just stick to coils .3 and above...

Best Wishes...

What Luke already said: don't use the Titanium (or Ni200) coils in VW mode, ever! They are strictly for temperture control. Only use kantal or SS in VW mode.

The ohm meter is a good investement, it can double as a build deck, so you can measure the resistance and check for shorts while building, so you don't have to move it to your mod constantly.

When moving to a mech (don't know why you would want to, but to each it's own) keep in mind on most there is absolutly NO safety build in, so double check everything (resistance, make sure no shorts etc.), use high drain batteries and know ohm law to make sure your build wont exceed battery limits!!!
These are the devices you read about that blew up. So check and be safe, and do not use when not fully aware how it works.
You can make them somewhat safer by adding fuses.
