Dry cotton test... Done... Passed... (but what a pain in the ...) haha...
Let me explain why...
1st try... (follow with me boys and girls)...
opened my delta II RBA and replaced the coil with a nice new twisted 26 gauge Kanthal wire at 1.2 ohm 6 wrap thing of beauty. After all, if I was going to make a video, I did not want to show off a burnt up wire that had enough build up to look like a coat hanger that was used to hold up your muffler... haha
Anyway... Now I have a new coil, and need to "Pre-Burn it to shape", so press the fire button with nothing (no cotton/no juice) but the coil. I get a little smoke and then the liquid low light comes on... ie, shutting down the current on the coil.... yep... that is what "TC" should do... So I kick the mod out of "TC" and rip the coil at 15 watts in VW mode... it glows nice and red... normal.. then I push it up to 25 watts... and let it rip again... now I got a nice bright orange-ish burn starting to creep down the ends of the coil... yep... its even, balanced, stable, and ready to go....
2nd... I drop the wattage down to 23 (from 25) watts in VW mode... hit the button for just over 2.5 sec's... little glow... and then let go... OK... so now I have "set the profile" in VW and am ready to go to TC mode and add cotton (dry cotton that is) and test for the burn.. (are you still with me here?? )
So now I am loaded with Cotton... set to 23 Watts... sitting in TC mode @ 100%... no tank, no juice... just coil and cotton... I hit the button... and bang... UP IN SMOKE IT GOES>>> "oh no... what the ????"
3rd... Sitting scratching my head... It hit me... step 2 was not done with juice... or cotton for that matter... and as we should all know... juice, and the vape-ration of said juice actually cool off a coil... ie.. It being wicked and sitting in juice is going to effect the "calibration or taste profile" drastically.... So... lets try this whole thing again.... hahha
4th... load coil with cotton... cover in juice... slide the top back on the RBA... drop the Tank back on... let sit for a few mins.... (to soak) ... Kick Mod into VW... set to 15 watts... take a hit or two... (not bad, but missing a little heat ya know...) bumped up to 23 Watts... and a few 2.5 sec hits later... I am sitting in a small cloudy room, and ready to flip into TC mode and see if we are good to go...
And guess what... I am... hahaha
5th... So.. under normal conditions... I would be done.. and ripping on this tank for a few hours... ie... using this the way it normally runs... with a good taste profile locked into place.... right... still with me... ???
6th... So... now, I drop the tank.... pull the top off the RBA.... and slip the juice soaked cotton out of the same twisted 26 gauge 1.2 ohm coil that I started this with... (with me??)
7th... I fire the mod... (still in TC) with no cotton... not juice... just to dry off the coil... and make sure that there is not juice sitting around that the new "dry cotton" is going to soak up and throw off this test...
All good...
8th... I load the coil with Dry cotton (Japanese Org... ) .... a nice lond inch and a half... sitting on one side... (cause I am going to do this "hit/test" a few times to make sure (after all this work...lol))
9th.... NO GUTS... NO GLORY>>>> Fire in the hole.... and "fourrrrrrr", just for good measure..... here goes nothing.... button pushed... and just like when I "dried off the coil in step 7, I get a little smoke... and then the current is shut down.... blink-ed blink light... (no juice) comes on... and and that is it... "wow...lets do it again... haha"
10th.... fired this mod... again and again... at 23 watts... on dry cotton... after calibrating and setting the TC mode up as if in real world usage... and the only thing I got was a slight Tanning or color change on the cotton.... I would say that It passed .... throw in that this is TC on Kanthal.... And I would say it blew the test away..... 8) even if it was a pain to set up right... haha
Sorry if this was long... but... in truth... a person can read it faster, than watching on video every thing I did....
for anyone else that has this Mod... and does this "dry cotton" test.... please please... think about the way you have to set the TC profile.
Cause it is easy to stick cotton in the coil and get it to burn... but that does not prove that the TC mode does not work if you didn't set it up right....
hope this helps a few... 8)
