Okay. I have not heard anybody bring this up yet, so I will be the harbinger of doom. Has anybody thought of 2012? No I don't think it's going to be the end of the world or anything like that. But... we are set to have some VERY powerful solar activity during this time. The kind of solar activity that disrupts radio communication, interferes with satellite transmissions and FRIES batteries!!!

I'm not sure how our trusty PVs will handle the strain. I certainly don't want to go from this :vapor: to this :smokie:but if our friend the sun throws it's little temper tantrum, I'm not sure that some of us will have a choice. :(

....yes...2012.... while I can say with some confidence the world will end that year, I can't give you the specifics of my plan...er...what'll happen.

Should be fun though! :D

Extreme solar activity shouldn't do that much to batteries with the kind of shielding ours have. Hell, a neodymium magnet right between mine literally does nothing to them...can't imagine a little sun spot activity would be an issue.

More importantly....don't suppose you have any reading material on such things as the sun is planned to do? It may affect...things.

You probably won't go from this :vapor: to this :smokie: .

You may however go from this:

I'm o.k. with whatever happens either way. I think the whole thing is funny... people worry so much about how and when they are going to die, they never pay attention to how they live.

If something happens I hope I remembered to charge all my batteries the night before, and have plenty of extra parts/juice on hand.

If truly concerned look on youtube for how to vids on building small Faraday boxes to protect your pv's and batts.

If its end of the world we're all screwed anyways so vaping and toilet paper will not be of any concern after God puts the earth into his infinite pv and vapes us all.

If its just a decline of society, get a gun, lot of ammo, stock up on food and water.
Then sell everything you got just before it comes down and stockpile booze and cigarettes.
You'll be able to barter those items for essentials and luxuries to the idiot addicts out there that will be jones-ing for a smoke or drink.

Hmm, time for me to start a new social group, Tactical/Survivalist Vapers.

Well sadly as a 12 year old when my mom panicked about Y2K...and as a child without a brain of my own....I really believed her when she said it was the end of the world. So after nothing happened I decided screw this apocalyptic bull crap. People are full of it and nobody really knows whats going to happen. I'm not going to worry about it. When the world does end I think it'll be without any notice. Until then I'll be vaping honey flu nut like a champ <3

As a ham, I can tell you that "sunspot activity" is nothing new. Severe solar activity can disrupt communications for a short period of time, but in general, all that it means is that we will have great worldwide communication. A sunspot cycle lasts for 11 years, with about 5 years of solar activity and then 6 years of quiet. We are exiting the quite time now and are about to start the active period.

I'm more worried about the sun burning out and that's not going to happen very soon.

I do believe though, that management has been messing around with the sun, in the hope of getting me back into radio operation and off of the forum.

I've been peeking at bits of info that comes out because if you take a glace over at my birthday listed...the world is going to end on my 50th. Hey, what a bang of a party...right? lol According to the so called "experts" there will be a shift in the solar axis sometime on or around the 21st of December. What it will cause...non of us will ever know! Doomsayers have been around since the beginning of time and here we all are. My prediction...we'll get each other before mother nature does!

Interesting read, answers a lot of questions!

The History channel had a great show on the other night called "Apocolypse Island" dealing with this subject. It was pretty cool, but left me with the impression that 2012 will be a very bad year - for Mayan civilization.

I am contemplating how difficult it is to generate 3.7v on a stationary bike though!

edit: Nevermind, I had figured this one out before...

im worried earths magnetic poles might shift since we are overdue. if they shift then we wont be shielded from the suns cosmic rays and youre not suppose to expose your e-juice to the sun or heat so im worried i may have to buy all my juice all over again if this happens and it loses all its flavor. anyone know if the ecf vendors honor warranties for bad juice due to pole shifting?
