Hey, guys.

I have a roll of this and would like to try it. Anyone ever use it before. I don't find much about it on the forum. If I am shooting for a .6ohm coil or so, about how many wraps? Does it heat quickly? Any opinions on 24ga would be appreciated. Thanks!

That's some heavy wire. If it fits, go for 7-8 wraps on a 2mm mandrel. Should get you where you want to be. The heaviest I have used is 26g.

And my 26 is at .7 or so and it heats up fairly quickly.

According to the steam engine calculator, Steam Engine | free vaping calculators , it would be...
1/16" dia. 9/10 wrap
5/64" dia. 8/9 wrap
3/32" dia. 7/8 wrap

As to the heat up time, guessing since it is such a thick wire it would take a few seconds to get there. I know the 27g I got from Russ takes a bit longer than the 28g I already had...

1. Use a multimeter, and find out what length of wire measures 0.6 ohms. Or look up the ohms/inch in a kanthal wire table.
2. Wrap a coil using that length of wire (plus what you need for legs).
3. Measure the resulting coil with your ohmmeter.

I use it regularly. Check YouTube for Rip Trippers. He describes how to use this wire effectively.

I just started using 24 ga wire as well, I did a dual setup though but got approximately the resistance you are shooting for. 24 ga 1/16th" ID for 7-8 wraps but i used some longer tails to get it closer to the airhole (Full size atty) came out to 0.28ohms. Im still not sold on it but the flavor is on par...might be more of a wicking issue for me though.

Just so far it is a slower start up coil and an exaggerated cool down as well. I have been annealing but the wire is so thick I might forgo that step on the next attempt. LMK how it goes for you jif

OK, thanks. I bought some after watching the RIP Trippers video, but I probably should just stick with the 28ga I am using now if I have similar results. Maybe I will end up swapping with someone. We shall see.

I use nothing but 24G in my Reo these days.

10 wraps 1/16 is 0.54 - 0.57 ohms. I squeeze it with some needle nose pliers, its the EASIEST build youll ever do on an RM2, it sits perfectly, it glows very bright and sizzles like a beast.

I have been using it on my Pluid Reo for a month now. Takes a bit of time to heat up and takes a while to cool, but for low sub ohm coils, it is the business. If you want something in the .4 range you can still get plenty of coils and still stay nice and low. I love this stuff.

Well, I did 5 wraps around a q-tip shaft and inserted 3 mm readyxwick and it came in at .4 ohms. Is working quite nicely right now.

I have been messin around with 24g for a bit and have found it works best with duals at around .25. Anymore then that and it just reacts way too slow for me. I switch off between 1/8 & 1/16 id's depending on how warm I want the vape. These coils last a long time, and just need the occasional dry burn. Great flavor and huge vapor and since they don't heat up super instantly like 28g, the vape is warm to cool and not harsh.

I have had a good break in for the dual 24ga coils in my Atomic, the flavor is actually more intense than my Cyclone with a similar setup but the vape is significantly cooler...might just need some time to acclimate myself to the new vape but so far I am enjoying it.
