28 gauge help

hi, I am trying to build a coil for my Kanger pro tank 2 using 28 gauge. I only have a Vamo 3. So I need help building a Coil over 1.5 Ohms. anyone have any advice? I'm just bored because I ordered things from fasttech and I'm figuring I'm going to be waiting awhile for my mod, RBA, coils, and ohms tester. So I want to perfect my coil building so I'm not struggling when I first get it. I ordered all of it on the 19th

I recommend 30ga if you have it.

I do 7/8 wraps around a 1/16 drill bit or a size 00 electronics screwdriver in a microcoil configuration.

Wrap the coils right up next to each other nice and tight, remove from whatever jig you are wrapping around, pinch lengthwise in tweezers to compress the coils and torch until red hot.. put back on your skewer, rebuild the head, and after you check resistance, and before you button it all up, pulse until it glows from the center out, fire the exposed coil and pinch with tweezers while hot until those coils are pretty much a solid tube.... tuck a cotton wick in there, and enjoy my favorite configuration for the ProTank yet.

You can do a vertical coil also.

What gauge is in a Kanger coil to begin with? I just pulled apart a burned out 2.5 ohm, straightened out the remaining wire, re-wrapped around a toothpick three or four rounds and it came back to life as a 2 ohm with cotton wick.

this has always interested me.

can it be done in a vivi tank?

if yes, how? i wAnna try this build. maybe then i can build a 1.5 ohm coil.

The issue is your Kanthal guage as you have come to realise. The safety designed in most current VV/VW mods restrict the ohms I have found. I found that for coils on these regulated mods 32 guage is best, it allows you to build 5-6 wrap coils and still run safe. Most of my 5-6 wrap coils come out around the 2.2-2.8 ohms and they fit beautifuly into my RBA.

Or you can buy a real rba and not only improve your vape but get good use out of your 28 awg Kanthal wire. Pretty much all I use on builds of .5-2 ohms. Yeah one can rebuild them, but why? When there are so many better platforms to build on. And pt's make great PIF gifts. Finally got rid of my last PT and ego style battery, with 10 coil heads and 2 bottles of juice, got a big ole smile, many thanks and a nice kiss in return. Was the best thing I ever got out of a PT!!! lmao.

Take a file and ream out the wick slots so they are 3mm. That is about the max you can expand them. Make sure the bottom is U shaped so it does not flood. I've thought of making a U shape on the chimney but have not tried it. If you do this it will take less wraps to get a decent resistance. I've done this successfully and fired on an ego. That said the coil did not last very long... it was just an experiment. It worked really well but I've got RBAs so it really is not worth the trouble for me to attempt it again.

oh no... those protanks are life savers. sometimes i forget juice for my kayfun but i always have one of my modified airflow, 29awg microcoiled cotton protanks ready to go in my car. they vape so well, sometimes i have to laugh about it. it wasnt until after i started building microcoils on my kayfun that i was able to milk the protanks for everything theyr worth. my girlfriend still has only a protank that i rebuild and she gets great vapor. if i knew a smoker to convert i would be tempted to set one up for them, but i enjoy never having to carry anything with me except my pv and i battery. always have a fresh atty waiting.

I just built a 28ga. micro on a 1/16" bit and used 10/9 wraps and it came out to 1.5 ohms. So its can be done. Was actually trying to get down to 1.2, so I guess the next one will be a 9/8 I guess. No hotspots and works really nice in my new Igo-L.

Hey guys. As to some of the remarks. I do have a real RBA coming in. I just wanted to improve the one that I have now. I ended up making a coil that works! I used 28g Kantian and I did four wraps with a medium size paper clip to wrap it on. Then I spaced it and did another four. I took the coil and folded it like a book at the spacer spot. Tightened up the coils and threw a wick in the two folded coils. Running at exactly 1.3 ohms and its gaping like a champ. Especially since I replaced my positive opine rubber ring in my vamp v3. I'm running at about 12 watts and I am using organic cotton as a wick. I'm getting great flavor and a decent cloud for a little could head like that. No burnt taste so far so Al is good =)
