What gauge wire should I get for my first rda

I have a fasttech patriot on the way so I need to order kanthal. Would 28 gauge be best for single coil builds. (I'll be using sony vtc4s)

Sorry to answer your question with a question but... What ohms are you trying to get?

I don't know. About 1.4? Whatever works well. I was looking to avoid having to keep buying coils, and also replace the semi disposable clearomisers I've been using with something more durable.

Yes 28g will work fine for 1.4 ohm coils but much higher or dual coils and 30g would be better.

When I first started with rebuilding coils I got a huge 500 foot roll of 28g and another of 32g. As it turned out the 32g was a waste of money until I learned about twisting it which brought it close to 30g. I figure I am set for life and happily spool off a few meters for friends when they want to try building coils. Even if I ran out I would never buy a 500 foot roll again, 100 foot rolls would give plenty.

I've wondered what twisting 3 or 4 strands of 32 would do...

I just did a build with 30 instead of the 28 that I've been using. I just found that 28 took a while to heat up unless I was building low ohm.

Yeah....30 and 28 to start.........can twist the 30 if you chose to stay low after a while.....if not, 30 is ok....use it for dual coil when I want to stay in the 1 ohm and above range...
