28awg Kanthal-A1 in 4/4 & 4/5 wrap. Help/Favor

Hi guys, I need a favor...

Can someone build a 4/4 and/or 4/5 wrap of 28awg Kanthal-A1 on their rba and let me know what the resistance is?

I currently use 32awg in a triple-twisted wire configuration to give me a ohm readout of 0.6Ω. Just getting tired of twisting wire and considering posting a trade thread for 95-100' of 28awg for my 32awg 95' spool.

EDIT: Doh totally forgot to mention the thickness, about 1/16 to 3/32 or anything of the average genesis diameter.

4 wraps of 28ga on an AGA-T nets me ~.7ohm.

Same here, I only use 28g and ribbon wire and with a 4/3 wrap I average .7ohms

3/4 wrap puts me at .9Ω; but my wick is 5/32". how wide is your coil going to be?

EDIT: oops, that's Nichrome, Kanthal would be a 1Ω

Just checked my notes (GEEK). You want .6Ω on a 1/8" wick, 4/5 wrap? That'd be 26 Kanthal for .6~.7 and 26 Nichrome for .5~.6Ω (at least when I do it)

so, yeah, there you go, looks like you'll get .7Ω. Spend $5 at Temco or 3.50 at Jacobs and get some 26, if you want your .6. If you want no more than .6 maybe a tad less; make sure to get Nichrome instead

26??? That's quite the thickness there lol. I was thinking 28awg would be perfect. Maybe 29.

Realistically you can always just roll a slightly thinner wick if you want to hit .6 with 28g anyway.

Guys...for reference, an easy way to estimate coil resistance can be calculated here: PV Web Apps. Fellow ECF'er "Tomcatt", put together a really helpful set of tools for us. You can play with inputs like: wire gauge/type, number of wraps, etc.

The second calculator is the one you are looking for.

Just compare resistance per inch. For example. .5mm x .1mm Kanthal D = 30g A1round, .8mm x .1mm Kanthal D = 28g A1 round
