I've been a 3-4 PAD smoker for 39 years.

Gave up notions of quitting tobacco too many years ago to remember.

Bought first disposable e-cig 7/26/2012 at 7-11--about a week ago now--purely on a lark.
In the back of my mind I've seen them before. Just never gave them a 2nd thought; "oh,
yet another nico-product to spend my money on when I'm out buying over-taxed smokes and over-priced gum." Or so I thought.

In fact I did buy 2 packs of smokes with it, "just in case."

Found ECF on same date. Haven't really stopped reading it since then.

I've never been able to keep off the smokes for more than a whole day--not ever.

Got my first eGo 1000 mAh based e-cig 4 days later, 7/30/2012, and have been
tobacco-free since that same date.

Fifteen minutes from now will be midnight. It will begin my 5th day in a row with
no smoke or chew. Unthinkable for me a week ago. I wasn't even thinking of
quitting!

The e-cig idea is a game-changer I've been overlooking far too long.

Those days are over!

Thanks for blazing the trail, all you now on ECF! The info here is more
than I ever expected or hoped to find to help me stay off the stinkies.
Of, by, and for ex- and wanna-be-ex-smokers.

I'm all-in folks.

WOW! Congrats and welcome to the ECF family! Thank you for sharing your story - it is amazing and hopefully will have a very happy and healthy ending! SMOKE FREE FOREVER!! Woot! You will never meet a nicer, more knowledgeable group of people here who are so willing to help. I was a 2-1/2 PAD smoker for over 25 years and I smoked my last cigarette on July 13, 2011. Smoke free for over and year and definitely could not have done it without ECF. Best of luck to you in your continued journey, Whynes - if you need anything don't be afraid to ask! :)

hrlw817, AutumnWolf, kewlguyjeff, Jixchel,
(as well as anyone else who reply while I form this question)

Thank you very much for the warm welcome, and kind words of encouragement.
It means so much more coming from someone who has walked, or is currently
walking the same path I am.

One recurring question I've had after reading hundreds of posts so far has to do with
plastic materials in the various gear; especially that part of the gear that comes
in contact with the juice or could be melted by the heating elements (wicks, filler, air
tubes, etc).

A scant few posters have suggested that some of these materials *might* be polycarbonate;
especially some of the newer cartomizers or tank types coming out. Polycarbonate, even in
dishware, scares hell out of me -- maybe not quite as much as tobacco does -- but it's up there,
because it contains BPA (Bisphenol A). BPA mimicks the human hormone, estrogen, once inside
the body, and the possiblity that I might be vaping it in my e-cig gear really does scare h*ll out
of me. Canada has actually gone as far as to declare BPA toxic to humans. Wish the USA
would do the same. I'd venture a guess the issue/topic is not even on the Chinese radar screen yet.

I don't want to start a thread about that here, but if you have any pointers where I might go to
read what others with similiar concerns share info on that (whether here or on other forums) I
would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

HOLY MOLE! WOW! Way to go! That is an amazing accomplishment. As to your question as to whether clearos are polycarbonate and BPA free, I hope you get some thoughts on that, because it is a good one. I have had an occasional blast of plastic flavor which is worriesome because I fear "leeching" into the juice and then into me.

Welcome whynes. Former 3+ packs a day here. This is my second go around with ecigs. (Technology has improved since 2009!) I finally had my last cigarette July 13, 2012.

As far as the plastic issue, my concern isn't PC or BPA specifically, just plastic and ejuice in general. For that reason, I tend to favor pyrex tanks or tank tubes, stainless cartomizers and atomizers, glass drip tips, etc. All these things are available.
