Inspired by Cisco, Warp1900 and many other great modders here I've experimented with a few different modds using different voltage regulators (317 adjustable, 383-5v and 383-adjustable) and batteries (18650 protected and un-protected, CR2).

317 was a disappointment for me. I like vaping :D. I don't use high nic juice but I make clouds almost all the time. The 317 VR has a high Vdrop and therefore does not last long on 2xCR2. The 383 - 5v VR has an acceptable performance and last few good hours for me but I like the most 383-adjustable VR so far with 2xCR2. I tried it with all the different volts within 3.6v to 6v range for a while and finally settled on 4.5v as my sweet spot. The 3.7v to 4.2v performed just like normal battery but 18650 will last more than a day easily, 2xCR2 with VR set to this range does not last nearly as long as 18650 so there is no point in using them in this mod. The 5v to 6v produces tons of clouds (more volts = more clouds) at the cost of taste, acceptable performance only a quick and well spaced in time draws and shorter life of your atty (theoretically, I kept my atty always wet and did not burned any). The 4.5v produced slightly less clouds but not by much with full taste still there and not sensitive if I took a long draw or short.. But you can set voltage to anything you like.

Anyway, few details here:
E-diagram for 383-adj (focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/ucc283-adj.html) with 2xCR2 setup: The R1=12K and R2 is 4.6K or you can calculate your own w w w.electronics-lab.com/articles/LM317/ .Please note the switch is NC (normally closed) and you can safely use the smallest you can find. There is very little current goes thru it so there is no risk of burning it like in most other Magnum modds.

Magnum: Please use magnum sticky for details. I set 383-adj VR right on the board as well as R1 and R2. The 100 Ohms LED resistor was also installed on the board. All resistors were 1/4 Watts just because that was the smallest I had and space was at the premium here. It is somewhat funny, I was so concern with space that by the time I was done I had plenty of space left to install an adjustable resistor with a little hole in the cover for a small screw driver to change the voltage if I wanted to (I might still do it next). Or if you like multiple switches for different volts it is even easer to install whatever and as many combinations as you like.

Magnum with protected 18650: Straight forward Magnum with black cover on the bottom removed and board pushed up to allow for more space.

Magnum with 383-5V: pretty much the same as adjustable setup but without resistors and switch installed in a power line (probably won't last very long)

USB Power Pack with un-protected 18650 at 3.7v (details here w w w.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/29237-nice-looking-box-mod.html ) was the easiest modd ever with plenty of space to do anything you like.
