This looks like the first step mod I have been waiting for. My main question is how to wire in and secure the atomizer connection... I see you put a + wire to the center, but how do you connect the - ? sorry for the newbie questions, I just want my first mod to be as simple as possible, and this looks like it might be the one to start with.

Also, when you put your atty/cart into the empty chamber, where did you put the + wire? It is hard to see in the photo.

Thanks for sharing this idea!

Actually the hole I had to cut for the atty connector is snug and I place my finger on the connector while I screw the atty on. When you snap the two pieces together it holds real tight so as of yet not problem.

The atomizer and cart fit where it is due to cutting the spring down to only one ring to solder the positive wire to. And trimming what would have been the plastic for holding the other battery connector. The positive wire is in the very bottom corner under the battery running up to the cut spring.

There is no negative to do. the switch is a spring and contacts the atty conector on the outside and touches the negative side of battery when you slide the switch lever.

Hope this helps. I could do another picture if you need? :)

You will for sure love how simple this mod is.

I`d love to see that. Got any pictures?

5 Volt
I was waiting until I got my last mod done and I got it done or close enough and I'm going to post pics tomorrow. I'm going to take the other one and make a 3.7 out of it. Plus I took that heating element out and been trying to mod an atty out of it.

Thanks for the quick reply! Now I just have to wait for the lighter to get here... ;)

What gauge of wire do you use to connect to the positive?

I do other mods and have pieces I use off the battery box. I read a post a good while back on what size was recommended and it was up in the air. I also took apart a Janty and the wire in that thing was so small. Wow

Nicotime would like to here the atty mod I`m sure he was checking with me on that. Looking forward to the mod pics.

So do you just solder the + wire directly to the center of the atty connection and then to the cut spring, and that is all it takes? That is great!

You got it.
But just in case here is the 510 atty connection diagram I made. You don`t need the negative one though. I recommend taking it apart but it can be done still together but I worry about the heat melting the little rubber ring. It can be tricky getting that back in but I got pretty good at it. :)

Well, I tried to pop the center out of one of my 510 connectors and the rubber ring split in half, so it is now 2 rings not one, I think that messed it up. Must have been old cause it broke with very little force. I have one more 510 connector, still intact, so I am thinking about just trying to solder the + with out removing the center piece. Do I push the wire all the way through the center hole and solder on the threaded side, or do I solder on the non-threaded side, pushing the wire into the hole just far enough to get a good connection? I know to be careful not to get my solder on the - side of the rubber O ring.

It would be nice to find connectors that are already pre-wired.

I always use a lead free solder and solder the hole closed so as long as the solder is smooth and flush you could solder from the threaded side.
The thing with doing this is sometimes it will spin the center post when screwing the atomizer on and spin the wire as well causing it to weaken.

Keep it smooth and not built up at all seems to work fine for me.

I also did one without taking it apart and stuck it in the fridge to cool it right afterwards. Worked fine. :)

Sweet, I just checked my solder, it's lead free :) I will probably wait till tomorrow to start the soldering part when there is more light in my work space, I might as well get my connector wired up while I wait for my lighter to arrive. I prefer to work when I am fresh, and just had my coffee. I am wondering if I should keep the 510 connector with the broken o-ring, can it be fixed? Or maybe use it on a bottom feed juice mod later on when I am ready to take that step? I am still unclear about how they feed the copper tube into the atty, from the bottom. I need to do more searching about building one of those... baby steps... I really like how compact your lighter mod is, and the fact that you can put the atty inside. Do you think one of the 808 cartomizers would fit in there? I can order some 808 connectors. I will start with the 510, since I have adapters to use other atty's.

***I get my connectors from Madvapes

Great you`ll love this mod.

I get connectors from Madvapes also on the supplier part of the forum towards the bottom of the list.
