I Saw the thread Three min lighter mod . BY Connman
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/battery-mods/77007-3-minute-lighter-mod.html
He made a cool VP out of battery operated Flameless cigarette lighter.
Connman also said he wanted to mod the heater core for a atty .
Well Here is my attempt at that .
First I disassembled the lighter, took out the heater coil assembly.
It over was really cool had a light bulb base and were there would normally be a glass bulb the was the heater coil on two posts .
The wire was a 36, or 34 gauge nic wire .
I took it off the posts pictured and found that a 901 atomizer ceramic cup would just slide down over the posts, I thought cool,.
I replaced the heater coil with 34 gauge coil around silica rope with the same 2.5 ohms rating the heater coil had . I Then soldered it to the posts then slide the ceramic cup up and over the rope after I cut the extra off . Instant Atomizer .
I also cut the case some so the atomizer would fit where the heater coil fit .I thought about using the heater coil side covers but they were kind of fragile after bending them down to work on the heater coil posts and new atty so I broke them off .
I had some left over nickel foam to cover the cup and a sleeve to hold it on and a tube from a wicked e-juice 901 atty to cover everything and fit a mouth peace on .
I use the factory switch which was a spring lever operation deal. rugged
I didn't have any AAA bats that were not dead. But I did have some Factory 901 batteries I had taken the screw on mounts off of to make some of my first mods . I thought prob 4 volt to 3.6 volt would work better and get the last little bit out of the batteries LOl win win . Oh I don't suggest anyone doing that . Buy some new Lithium AAA rechargeable batteries . I've got they just haven't showed yet . Oh it vapes great I use a factory style cart for it .Hope you enjoy this silly post .

Thanks For Kind words Sgood1971
Connman It all started with you on this one you really deserve all the credit on this. I ordered a couple lighters when I saw your mod and .
When I saw the heater coil I knew it had to be made into a atty . Funny thing is was really easy . I measured the resistance of the heater coil with a ohms gauge and thought it should work good at 2.4 -2.5 ohms . I used some 34 gauge nickel-chrome wire ,came out to almost an inch . I think this is the easiest mod I've made so far. The atomizer might give some a time but if the read the Building an atomizer thread they can get it done. Thanks again for your comments

Its a cart style I used two 901 batteries ,took all the room.
But I have two of the lighters, so I've got plans for a juicer for the next one We'll see.

Yes the lighters coil is like 36gauge in it and gets red hot on the AAA batteries. I tried to wrap it but it was to delicate to wrap with silica rope. So I had to wind a new coil to the posts. But im glad I did because the post fit the 901 atomizer cup holes perfectly. wasnt hard to wind a new atty with the solid posts .
thanks for your interest all.

Great work Dan, I love the fact that you didn't find it hard to make the mod and atty, I been at it over a month and had to redo, just goes to show my modding skills are below basic lololol. That's right I suck at modding, but do love this lighter mod.

It wasn't always easy for me also just have a made few mods and lots of failed tries to bank on . It helps as you see yourself you will get better as you go. I use a lot of toys to get it done .When I first started making atomizers, I failed a lot .first thing to get is an resistance calculator. That way when you do wind a coil you will get close to the Resistance you need for the voltage your working with. Reading how others have failed , and the won helps all the more don't let the atomizers win . Because the success will be sweet when you win and vape the finished job.Knowing that you can make you own e-cig . Is good cause you just never know when you might just have to because of the times we live in .

Don't know the answer to your question, MisterD. I've seen these two talked about in the forums. I've got the 36 gauge.

Nice job Dan. I had to try dripping on one of these when I first got them, just to see. I saw alright... Poof.:glare:

I used 34 gauge nichome wire because I wanted it to be tough and easy to wind and solder. Seems like if its larger than 38 gauge its easier for me, to solder . The best way to learn the atomizer rebuild or building is to vist the post made by Vaporer http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...zer-coil-101-actual-working-methods-only.html he will walk you threw it very well and tell you also some great places to buy materials for atomizer building. A very good read.

Way to go Dan.
This is the kind of inovation I like to see. You can package a battery any one of a million ways, big woop, going the extra mile on creating the vapor generator is where it really counts. Great work.:toast:

Thanks for the complement
I have a ton of homemade atomizers . Some Total failures and some really innovative . I've got a flow threw type I've been wanting to post a thread on but have had some setbacks I Had to get threw before I can finish it I built a prototype and it lasted well over 6 months . I'm wanting to build it up in a nice package . To maybe sell, but before I do I was thinking of putting a build thread on it so everyone who wanted could build there own . I have learned so much from this forum that I really want to give back some of what I've used and learned. To members like you . I've learned so much from. The list names of which would be long since there has been so much information here I have digested and learned from .
