Is it a store bought head? They can be out by +/- 0.2 often - so you buy a 3 ohms and it is really 2.8.
If you made the coil yourself and it changed from 3 ohm to 2.8 ohm it may not be stable.

I use HH357 atomizers..very hig quality attys.. I buy the 3.0 ones for my VV Provari, they start off at 3.0 ohms but after a couple of weeks settle around 2.3 ohms...A coil will drop ohms as it ages....
