One easy modification that I do to ALL my Vivi Nova heads to help wicking is to "fluff" the ends of the wicks. On the heads that have multiple wicks (the 1.8 and 2.4 ohm heads), I hold each individual wick between two fingers about 1.4" from the end, and un-twist the threads on each one. When I get them all un-twisted on the ends, I'll brush them over my finger lightly to fluff them out a little more. On the 2.8ohm head (which has a single, thicker wick) I do the same thing--un-twist and fluff it out but a little further up so more of it is fluffed.
This seems to go a LONG way to help with wicking, and makes them less likely to get burnt-tasting or have dry hits. You also don't need to wait so long between hits, as the fluffed wicks seem to absorb and wick up the juice quicker.
Also, you need to have pretty good airflow through the Vivi Nova, so it will hit hot and rough. I don't screw mine all the way down tight on my mod. I'll screw them in until they are JUST finger tight, and then back them out about 1/4 turn. That way they are still tight and don't wobble in the threads, but it increased the airflow a little and makes them vape a little cooler, and with better vapor production.
Also, I ALWAYS soak my heads in Everclear for a few hours when they are new, and do a dry burn before I ever use them. And when I clean the tank (every two refills or whenever I change flavors) I soak the heads for several hours in Everclear, and then let them air-dry overnight, and do a dry burn before re-installing them. I also put a drop or two of VG on the coils after each dry burn. That way if I'm not going to use them right away, they don't oxidize too much and seem to stay "fresher tasting". If I'm going to use the head right away, I find that a drop or two of VG on the coil helps get the new juice wicking into the coil faster. The first few vapes will taste a little light in flavor, but after the second or third hit, they vape like a champ--clean, full-flavored, and produce clouds of vapor.
Good luck, and keep experimenting. The Vivi Nova can be a VERY good tank if you fiddle with it a little bit.
