Hello,
I bought a 510 to 801 adapter so I could use my 302 atty's on my 510 battery mods.
I own both a Spade 510 & a Prodigy V2 and for both i'm having strange issues when hooking the Joye 302 up to 'em.

This one doesn't matter much but I do feel it's worth mentioning.
Basicly when trying to use the Joye 302 on the Spade 510 w/ the adapter......
The device has LED 'lights' & they'll work fine w/o the atty attached, fully charged battery & all, so they should light up.
But when I try tightening the 302 to the Spade it just won't work at all.
I'll hit the switch & no lights on the LED's w/ a fully charged battery.
I notice by messing w/ it that if I hold down the power switch while screwing on the atty the LED's will wind up shutting off mid screwing on the atty.
I can get the battery to heat up the atomizer eventually but only after screwing & unscrewing the atomizer off & back onto the mod slowly til it FINALY works.
Thats no big deal, just a little annoying.

The Prodigy V2, on the other hand, could wind up being dangerous. ><
I hooked the 302 onto the after-market adapter directly onto the PureSmoker V2 510 made adapter.
( The PureSmoker Prodigy V2 801 Adapter does NOT fit a Joye 302....... don't ask )
1st hit worked but the 2nd hit seemed to be a misfire, which is common for the V2's terrible switch.
3rd hit seemed to be yet another misfire ......cept I noticed the battery chamber, the mod itself, was actually heating up INSTEAD of the atty. 8-o
I unscrewed the bottom & popped out the batts ASAP & seemed to hear a 'tissssssst' sound like actual heat venting outward.
I was a little scared & let the batts cool down then decided it probly best to just stick w/ the Joye 510 atomizer instead of the 302.

Of course, being a knuckle head, I insisted on trying my luck once more.
Only this time w/ full knowledge that if the atomizer ain't heating up itself then it could be the batteries heating up instead.......
I got it to work, but just like the Spade 510, I have to 'fiddle' w/ the V2 for success.

My 'Question' is: Why is this happening?! :?:
Is it cuz the V2 510 adapter is brass & so is the Joye 302 .....BUT my after-market adapter is silver?
Do I need to find/purchase a brass 510 to 801 adapter instead.
Or is it possibly something totally different.
Hmmmmmm... I don't have a clue. ><

I've learned to fiddle with the multitudes of adapters... everything i've used i've had to fiddle with to get it to work for me. I'm pretty sure the adapter you have aren't "silver" but stainless and probably came from altsmoke. these adapters work fine, but take some fiddling to get to work right. None-the-less, none of these types of metal have anything against each other and will work fine together.

Different manufacturers do different things and have different tolerances for their atomizers which is TOTALLY annoying to me, and completely unexplainable. Which causes these problems. you'd figure that we'd set a STANDARD for each type of adapter and set those tolerances as the way to make atomizers, or vice versa. But... doesn't happen that way.

i only have 1 801 atty and it wont work without a small cut off nail stuck into the atty to fire. --- on the other hand, the BE112's that i have all fire just fine on the 801 v2 adapter, no fiddling. But now I've learned to hate the BE112's because of the sucking a golf ball through a garden hose type draw on them.

The mechanical button is a finicky little S.O.B. sometimes though... the protege button i got was an early model and rendered my protege useless at the time i got it. What works on paper doesn't always perform as well as you want it to later on. Every once in a while i have to take my button apart and clean out all the metal dust in there to get it to make a better contact and work right again. my V2 button seems to work enough of the time to prevent an aneurysm. But starts to fail me at the worst times... like driving. The stainless contacts that are being sent out now probably wont have these kinds of problems.

To get used to your button, i would say use something you KNOW works until you get the button pressing action down to a science. Then tinker with the atomizers. Sometimes you have to screw the adapters in a little differently. More into the atomizer or the PV itself for them to get better contact. they seem to work with an even amount of play on either side of the adapter a little better for me.

Oh and yes, that heating up battery thing. Very bad deal there. Check the adapters, look at them to see what could be grounding out. i've had something like this happen to me before... it was caused by a little battery magnet that slipped and was on the positive side so it made contact with the body and completed the circuit in turn heating up the protege in a quick fashion. I dont think you're using these magnets... but this is the same kind of deal. there is a reason it heated up, and it's because the circuit was completed somewhere other than the atomizer. So without seeing it, i can't say what could have done this. Other than the adapter being ....-eyed or something.

Carefully look over everything, weird things have happened... maybe you over tightened the adapter at some point and the silicone that keeps the center post away from the adapter housing got messed up and it's grounding out there. It could be a multitude of things.

Did the V2 *only* heat up when the button was pressed? if not i'm thinking it has nothing to do with the adapter. it's somewhere else. these pv's are actually Really simple devices, only about as complicated as a flashlight. So dont worry, take it apart, figure out how it works, then make a good observation on what could be wrong in there.

I hope my rambling helps. i seen a bunch of views and no replies, so i made an attempt to help.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. :)

Couple things I wanted to say rq.
Yea, they were definitely adapters purchased from AltSmoke......
How you figured that one out idk, lol.
AltSmoke isn't the only supplier for adapters so... very nice guess, lol.

Pretty much, I think you're right on the nose, bout over tightening being the cause of the 'grounding out'. I been using the Joye 302 on my V2 all day long today & haven't had any issues whatsoever w/ any batteries cooking. I just tighten 'em tight enough to work & no problems anymore. /joy

I wasn't sure bout the different metal contacts & how they may or may not function properly if mixing & matching. Wasn't sure weather or not if all adapters need to be 'fiddled' w/ or not ....or just the ones I happened to purchase at AltSmoke.

So thx again for the info. Now I know for certain.~

I feel extremely comfortable sticking w/ the batteries that Pure Smoker ships w/ the V2.
I will never ever use any batteries for HV usage that are not of American standards.
Tenergy are the only batteries I know of that are.... I don't mess w/ TrustFire ...at all.

I don't care if those other batteries say 'Protected' or 'LifeP04' written on em......
If its not an American company ...i'll pass.... no thanks.

By all means, nothing wrong with the tenergy LifePO4 cells puresmoker provides. Very dangerous to use regular lithiums in multi cell though, unless they are actually protected.
