Sore throats are the number 1 side effect of withdrawl when quitting smoking.

Here's an article on it:

Quit Smoking Side Effect #1: Sore throat

The reason why you often find smokers who quit suffering from a sore throat is because of the change in mucous production in the nose. When you stop smoking, the mucous production levels seem to rise and as a result, you may suffer from a post nasal drip. This literally translates as; post; back, nasal; nose, drip; drip. There is a drip at the back of you nose - your soft palate.

This excess mucous irritates the back of the mouth, soft palate and throat, leaving you with a sore throat that can become very tedious. To deal with this, get some antiseptic and anti-inflammatory throat lozenges to try and minimize the pain and discomfort. You may also try an anaesthetic spray to alleviate the pain too.

I had the exact same thing happen, like everyone says keep hydrated I drank TONS of water, didn't really help much, used cough drops. It hurt so much that I started smoking analogs in hope that it would help, it didn't really did ease it just a hair.

Anyway the next day it was much better still there tho and by the third day it was fine. Oddly enough 5 days after I had smoked those few analogs, my throat started hurting not nearly as much but again. Kept hydrated, used cough drops again, but didn't smoke analogs this time, and I have not had that issue since.

I've convinced a number of friends to give e-cigs a shot, and every single one of them experienced this soar throat... Only one gave up on it because it hurt too much.

I'm guessing that since none of my friends nor I, went to 0 nic juice, I believe (completely unfounded by research or medical knowlege) that it is the tar and other chemicals that have been expelled from our systems that causes this issue.

Now that I've been vaping only for a few months and haven't had an analog, I've also noticed that first thing in the morning I don't NEED a drink ASAP. I still get up make my pot of coffee goto my office and start working. But normally I'm watching the clock it takes 3m for my coffee pot to brew a full pot and I'm heading there to grab a cup of coffee. Lately I still grab a cup but there have been times I've been working and forgot for HOURS.

The very first time that happened I shruged it off as a fluke, but it's happened more than once now and like I said earlier I've noticed that I'm not having to drink something immediately. Currious if others have had this too?
