So I got a 5v USB passthrough that need a battery box for on the go. I would like to be able to switch between alkaline or rechargeable. I am asking this so that I don't have to buy 10 different types to get the right one.

Also is there anyway to drop the voltage down to 3.7 on my passthrough. I don't like it running as hot as it does. When I chain puff I taste plastic unlike my reg Joye 510 battery. So I am always having to fell the atty to keep it from getting too hot.

Thank you
Thunder

You didn't say if your PT was the "direct" type, the kind with no in-line battery, but I am assuming that it is.

I found this...

BATTERY HOLDER FOR 4 x AA-CELL (WITH USB CONNECTOR) + SWITCH, model #BH341USB - All Spectrum Electronics

...with a quick Google, so I know nothing about this company. I also don't know if the thing is wired for parallel or serial. If it's parallel, just fill it full of protected 3.7V Li-Ion batts and you're done. If not, you will have to do some more searching, or some modding.

Those different batts you mentioned are also different Voltages. There will be a big change in performance depending on whic ones you use.

I've been thinking of trying to build something very similar in an Altoids or Eclipse Mint tin, but I was thinking along the lines of 18650 or 18500 sized batts. You mind telling me why you're wanting to use AA?

Just because the AA is super common, easy to get in a bind. This would not be my main PV but something to keep in the car for road trips. I could alway buy alkaline batters from a 7-11 if I had to, but finding a 18650 or 18500, in a pinch miles from home, could be a little harder.
