I would stop using them and return them. If it tastes like metal, you are probably inhaling metal particles. I had one atomizer that did the same thing. I hurt to inhale and left a metalic taste in my mouth. There really has to be better quality control on them. It was a 510 atomizer that was doing this. I think the dura-c is a Joye-510 as well, but I could be wrong.

menthol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:(:confused:2 dura-c atty's and 2 m401 atty's are emmiting this foul smelling and tasting vapor. I've tried everything under the sun to try and take the taste away. It's almost impossible to bear the taste of it for more than 2-3 puffs...what should i do?

New atty's need to have the primer burn off before they'll start tasting right, If not new and they're already broken in, whenever the atty gets dry, you'll taste.smell the atty burning, yuck! The bottom of your cart can actually start to get hot. I've heard of 510's actually melting their cart because the liquid ran out. But 510's burn hotter.

As long as your cart has liquid in it, and you make a habit to lay your e-cig down when it starts getting warm, it should be fine.

Anyways, that's the only times I've ever tasted that burning taste.

Note: I'd use a new cart, that odor may have absorbed into the cart's filling-ugh!

Just a thought, but is it possible it's the *liquid* and not the atomizer?

The first batch of Red Bull I got started doing this, and tasted downright horrid. It was the liquid - got some from a different supplier and it's perfect.

I don't know if you've been switching liquids or not, but worth a thought.

The other thing you could try is soaking the atomizers in Pepsi (or any soft drink) for a while (at least a few hours), then washing them and drying them good, and seeing if that helps.

Good luck!

I'm new at this since yesterday. But yesterday I would taste this nasty "ionized or metallica" taste.. ugg. So I took the poly out and cleaned it well (soaked in hot water, then use paper towel). Then put it back in and used menthol juice to re-fill. Things are much better and it was either the atty was new or the "mlb" flavor that comes with the 510 is nasty.

its not the liquid ., because i only used my red bull with two atty's and the other two i used the ry4 pre filled carts. so its not that.. ..

Well, since they are not brand new, that rules out the primer taste issue.

You didn't state that you'd tried using any method of cleaning out the atomizers, so I will assume that to be fact.

So, my only thought would be that your atomizers got too dry and you're tasting the wicking material burning. 8-o Have you tried directly dripping 3-4 drops right on the atomizer to see if that resolves the flavor issue?

Sounds like you were tasting the primer that the atomizers are coated with to keep them moist. Awful disgusting taste....glad you got it resolved quickly. :)
