Ok. 48 hours now without an analog.

I don't feel like I even want a cigarette. I tried one, and it tasted HORRID.

But my temper is hideously short, and I feel like I want to cry. Like, my temper is WWIII short.

I have never tried kicking this 18 year habit before ... what the hell? Is it always like this? I hate it :( When does it go away? Will it go away?

Do that, whatever it takes. I never put mine down the first few weeks. I mean a guys gotta work,eat....But I did vape constantly, still do. Had I not went to 42mg,I probably wouldnt have made it. We are all different. If your using a 510,901 anything like those, your batts are gonna go pretty quick. 1 1/2 to 2 hrs tops.

I believe there is more than just nicotine in those analogs we got addicted to. I went through some mood swings when I went completely analog free. It took me a week or so to taper off the analogs and go vaping full time.

I say do what you want and feel what you feel. Every one is different and these things will pass. I promise you.

Keep your chin up and do realize ..... 18 years is a mighty long time. This is a great thing your doing.

Some people need the MAOI in cigs because they have an undiagnosed slight depression; those people may need extra help using soemthing like Swedish (swedish is by FAR safer than any other country's brand) snus or snuff from anyplace.
Pop down to our subforum called 'smokeless tobacco' and talk to the regulars who know how you feel.
You aren't alone, lots of people go through what you're feeling right now. For some, its not MAOI withdrawal (for those its purely psychological and not biochemical) but for many it IS and they can't quit (or switch to vaping) without a little help.

Don't rush it Rhaethe !!! It took me two months to completely quit my 46 year habit of smoking. During that time I vaped and smoked, but I slowly cut my smoking down, until I felt that I could quit comfortably. Even then, I had some cravings for four days, but they were manageable and the e-cig really helped me get through them.

CaptJay has a good point about Swedish Snus. If you think you need the extra nic, get some. I didn't, because I want to eventually quit using nicotine completely.

I might try mixing it a little.

The boyfriend (who is 4 days ahead of me) claims no temper issues (and I've not observed any). But he also had around 4 analogs the first day, and maybe 1 a day now.

Holy crap. Once I'm completely analog free ... I won't go back. Not like I see so many of my friends do, who quit smoking and then "relapse".

I won't. I'm not going through this crap again.

Wow.

And thank you all very much!

I agree about the maoi's in cigs. I have always had depression and never knew it. I have smoked since I was 11 yrs old , so I obviously wouldn't know I was medicating myself with cigarettes all those yrs. I quit smoking for about 9 months once about 12 yrs ago and full depression set in. I have to say some of it was circumstantial , not all quitting smoking. I was on anti depressants for a while. I ended up smoking again that time.
This time I was semi depressed the first 2 weeks with no cigarettes but it got progressively better and now I am back to my regular self. I think ? No one has told me to smoke yet like they did last time so I am thinking I am ok.
I think our bodies need to heal from all the other crap in cigs and we may get a little hay wire in the brain until it figures out what we need again. You could try the snus like op's said or try some herbal remedy for mood and depression. I am sure a good health food store would be able to point you in the right direction.
At least you came here and asked. Some people dont bother. I know I didn't last yr when I was frustrated. I hope you feel better soon and keep up the vape.

Hang in there - I had smoked 1 to 2 packs a day for decades but the day my starter kit arrived I have not looked back and that was 72 days ago - as others have stated you may want to increase the level of nicotine content.

I also vape almost constantly and wish electronic cigarettes had been created a long time ago - hang in there and keep us posted.

Once I started vaping, I laid the analogs down. Not exactly... I carried them and my lighter for 3 weeks. Only had one really bad time and I couldn't even stand myself(that's really bad) and I just went to bed. Next day, I was fine. I had been smoking for 50 years and had tried to quit 5 times before. My husband supports my efforts but, says if I pick the cigs back up tomorrow, he knows I tried. By the way, he still smokes and it doesn't bother me. We have coffee in the mornings, I vape and he puffs but, I think I'm the lucky one. Don't give up. Doing a good job is never easy, just fulfilling.

Best advice that could be given.

Rhaethe:

Don't take it like a defeat if you feel you have to smoke 2 or 3 cigs in these first days! Most of us did that. Personally i only smoked 3 cigs in the 1st week, but most my friends who i presented the e-cig kept up to 5 analogs a day in the first couple of weeks (they were heavy 2 pack a day smokers). I really advised them to smoke a cig if they feel a real urge.

All of them are smoke free now. We are not the same even if we smoke the same amount of cancer sticks.

I had one friend that went from 3 pack a day to ZERO nic in one day. That is an odd case but shows you how different we are.

Don't give up. EVER...and don't cry. Vape on!

Depending on how my day has gone, I have cut down to about 6mg juice, and also frequency of vaping.
But when I started, NO cigarettes from day one, I was a 60-80 a day smoker! I started out at 16mg (I had no idea what that was, but didn't seem like it was enough) so went to 24mg/ml juice and was instantly happy as a clam. And I was vaping constantly!!
For two months I could have cleaned out all the food from the local Piggly Wiggly, had a kinda fluttery hungry stomach, but toughed it out! Little by little I got a grip on myself, stopped coughing my head off, smelled better (you're right, that last cigarette while the battery was charging ~ HORRID! Couldn't finish it. Had to shower and wash my hair out again! And had enough energy to finally get back to work as a plow horse!
E-cigs saved my life. I never could have given up cigarettes without them.
I bought every brand and style there was, finally found my favorite, and learned how to mix my own juice because my supplier quit making my favorite. Started in June cutting back on nicotine, again in September, with NO MORE WITHDRAWAL!
Know the first thing in my head in the morning now? Putting on the coffee.
You may find some comfort in making sure your diet includes LOTS of fresh veggies, anything anti-oxident, fruits whole and juices, stay away from carbs white flour and sugars. And BREATHE! Lots of pursed lip breathing to get those lungs opened up. And some power walking. I hadn't slept well for years, but after a couple weeks I started sleeping like a baby again. Cry if you must, keep your "flash" temper in check, and learn to just relax, and vape like a fiend. Keep lots of juice and batteries and atomizers on hand, just to keep away from that panic factor that plagues a "dependant" person.
Best of Luck!

I started vaping 24mg. Smoking about 5-10 cigs a day and vaping the rest of the time. I was a 2 1/2 pack a day smoker. After a few weeks, I woke up one morning and decided I'd see if I could go all day just vaping. That was 50 days ago.

The 24mg keeps the wolves away, but I still had some kind of withdrawal thing going on for the first week. Like they say, they must put something else in cigarettes that is addictive other than just nicotine. The .......s.

It'll get better. Maybe you need to up your nic level.

Good Luck!

Ed.
