Morning all. Long gray winter apparently leads to long gray summer :( cannot wait til we can afford to move out of this state
Once you get a taste of the coastline, middle America pales a bit.

So always, how was it? Seeing the ocean, swimming in the big waves, how was the food? Did you eat anything new? Are the kids still talking about it? you going back soon? besides the beach, what else did y'all do/see? Do you still have sand in places you shouldn't have sand?

I know I know I'm so behind, I meant to have all my pictures etc up by now! Still catching up on sleep.

First the mountains were cool as heck at night, at one point one mountain directly next to the road was glittery looking because there were tons of fireflies lighting up bottom to top. And on the way back at the peak of one mountain I got to drive through a raincloud, completely neat experience.

We ate at a seafood buffet the first day, absolutely delicious (did not expect a buffet to be very good) and got to try a lot of new seafood. Could barely walk when leaving lol. The rest of the time we made easy meals at the hotel and ordered pizza one night.

The ocean of course was fantastic, even with tons of people around you you can barely hear them over the waves anyway. Watching the differences in the tide was pretty neat, we used boogy boards 2 hours before a storm and the waves were awesome. The kids loved riding the boards all the way to the beach. Like I knew all this stuff happened and that mountains were big blah blah blah, its just not the same as seeing it all in person.

Did get a second degree burn on my foot from the sand the one afternoon which sucked. It got really really hot morning through afternoon. First day I got a major sunburn despite the sunscreen so I was out of commission during the day for a few days. The hotel pool was shaded after 2pm so that was nice. The beach in the evening was more fun and less crowded. We were one block back from the beach which was kinda nice, a little quieter with less traffic.

Myrtle beach proper is very much family fun, but in the night is party central. There's a noise ordinance after 10 but people are everywhere driving and walking and drinking and yelling. After putting the kids to bed we sat outside and drank with most of the people in our motel, met LOTS of really interesting people hahaha.

We went to Ripley's odditorium, very cool stuff there. Did some souvenir shopping at Broadway on the beach. Didn't do a huge amount other than swimming and stuff, next time will spend a bit more to do some other activities. There were helicopter rides over the beach for $20pp, would be awesome at night. There were dinner and a show things we just couldn't afford to do this time (didn't have much time to save it was a last minute decision). We will definitely go back next year, probably make it a yearly trip. The place we stayed had smaller rooms for $45 a night, and it was outdated but we didn't spend much time there anyway except to swim in the (wonderfully warm) pool and sleep.

And yes the sand gets EVERYWHERE and sticks to everything haha. I can't imagine why people would ya know on a beach. Ouch.

Hey all, it's with a heavy heart that I make this post. My favorite uncle passed away yesterday on Father's Day. His kids (4 of them) are just devastated, not to mention his wife, (my mom's sis). He had been complaining of a really bad sore throat, so they went to the ER. They discovered a large tumor in his throat and brain. He began bleeding and they tried to intubate him but the large tumor kept blocking their efforts. He coded 5 times until my aunt said enough, don't put him through anymore. Life is so short folks. Let's make the most of it. I love you guys :)

When I saw you smiling and talking it was yesterday
When you were taken it was today
But in my heart you will always stay
Your voice, your wisdom, your speech and your right so free
Not knowing all that you could have been
Taken away like a tide ashore
Now you are death, I regret never saying how much I love you so
Oh how I cry my self to sleep at night and praying that God keep your soul at peace
Now and forever more you will always be the one I adore
Just your voice makes me want to be better
Now you in that heavenly place
On the wings of the heavenly dove soaring so high above
It has been one year since your life came to its early departure
Some times I wonder if it happens for a reason
God has a purpose for all of us
That's why he took you so suddenly
Although I will never understand why so soon
Death is something we have to live with
Death has no back or front door
When the time comes we all have to endure
So rest in peace till we meet
In eternity you will safely be
