Is anyone making and selling these right now? I like the fact that the Bartleby has the USB passthrough; I get tired of getting stuck with dead batts and it'd just be nice to plug it in and be able to use it simultaneously. I would just as soon make it myself, but I have no idea where I would track down the parts being an ex-pat in a foreign nation, and if someone else knows what they're doing, I'd be much happier to pass on the wealth.

Otherwise if there is another device that can perform at 5v/6v and can be used as an active passthrough, it would be sweet.

I'm using 510 atties, but I could be willing to switch.

Any info is appreciated.

The problem is that you can't charge batteries in serial. Each cell has to be charged and monitored separately. It's not impossible to charge a multi-cell mod via USB, it's just a whole lot more complicated than the Bart.

Oh contrar' This can be done with BOTH series AND paralell. Complcated, perhaps, but it can be done.

Not safely. Multicell lithium battery packs must have a balancer circuit on each cell to ensure that they are charged to the same level and not overcharged/undercharged individually. Sure, you could apply ~7.5v to a couple batteries in series and hope that the built-in protection PCB will cut each cell off before it pops, but I really wouldn't recommend it.
