I just make mini recipes. My base, which is 48 PG/50 VG/2% Nic. (equals 100%) Determine the flavor percents and subtract that from 100% and it tells the percent for base. Usually, my total flavor percents are in the 10-20% range.

After I have those numbers, I divide each (base and each individual flavor) by 20 to make a total of 5ml. If my 5ml is good, then I go to 15ml bottle to just see if everything is still good taste-wise. If that is good, then it is 30-50ml and done.

Mixing without nicotine will give you a way of saving money by not having to throw out the mix if it it horrible. After a few months or years (pretty much depended on the number of mixes you do a month), you should be able to mix with nic and be pretty sure it will be vapable and not have to throw it out. Nicotine can be tasteless to some folks and not to others (this is another subject).

I've done it without nic, but I decided best to test with nic added as it does alter the flavor. Really, the only time I throw something away is if it's a "shelved" flavor, so god awful to me that I know I'll never use it. So, I always have a few mls here and there of tested liquid that I don't necessarily want or need to vape more of. What to do with those samples? I wait till I have 10 sample bottles lined up on my desk and then just randomly combine them. It's actually fun...I've discovered some great, unobvious combos this way. Right now I've got TFA Kettle Corn, TFA Pear Candy, and FW Butter Toffee bottle bashed and it's actually...good. I'll probably never be able to duplicate exactly what's in the bottle, but it still puts ideas into my head.

Some flavors will be so overpowering when mixed at 10% to 20% as yesterday my first foray into Root Beer I started at 3% and could have started at 1%. At 10% it woukd be way way too strong. Like I said percentage depends on concentration of the flavor depending on the manufacturer.

I was referring to total flavoring. The primary flavor is generally the most, sometimes 2-3 are primary. The rest are supporting flavors. Mixing, testing, re-mixing, testing, re-mixing, testing, etc. usually gets me in that range. If it is 1-3 total flavors, then probably less percent. For 5-7, then it gets a little higher. Whatever the taste buds say...

If I am using multiple flavors I like to start with a lower percentage and adjust if necessary as I go along. Although with a Root Beer Float I created yesterday after some tweaking I am actually at 17%. And like you said Frenchy it is what the taste buds and the olfactory senses dictate. What works or tastes great to me might make someone else puke!

Ditto. When I line up two "shelved" flavors, I will try mix them 50/50 (some known ratio) or 3 flavors 33.3/33.3/33.3 so that I know I can pretty much produce them again. Some mix combos are surprisingly good to finish out the previously rejected "shelved" flavor mixes.

Hey guys,

First of all, thank you all for taking your time to answer my questions! I appreciate it a lot and makes me happy to start being part of a community that is friendly and always ready to help fellow vapors out.

I have taken several tips that have been mentioned here into consideration and will gradually learn more and more :)

So what I have done so far is made 3x10ml batches with a 10% single flavouring (ripe strawberry - VG based).

1) 40VG/60PG
2) 50/50
3) 60VG/40PG

In my idea, I will get not only get the singe flavours' taste, but also simultaneously see how the different ratios affect the finished mix. I have omitted nicotine for now.

My major problem is that I cannot find all the big brands most of you guys are probably using such as CAP or TFA. My supplier is kind of "no-name" so there is no information on the internet regarding these flavours.

The vendor has been extremely helpful though, which is a big plus. He suggested to use 10% for his ripe strawberry as it is one of his "weaker" flavours.

I guess the only solution there is is trial and error :)

But guys, you can't imagine how grateful I am for all your answers. This community simply rocks!
