When I walked for the first time into a vape store - I purchased so many things that I didn't need, that I didn't know how to use, and thought that I was taught and wasn't. I was sold juice with too high of a nic level and, frankly, was very discouraged. I had spent a lot (not enough, obviously) time on this board and thought I knew what I was doing and depended on the experienced vapers at this store to help me and boy was I wrong. Fortunately, a friend bought all of the stuff from me that I didn't need and I've been through a couple of different things since. What I didn't realize was how this is really trial and error for each individual to find exactly the battery you like, the tanks you like and most importantly the juice that you like. Somehow I thought you just buy this stuff and magically you're a vaper - full steam ahead ;)

Since my first expedition into the vape store, I have spent countless hours on this site, watching you tube videos and learning. Recently I visited another local B&M store and was fortunate to have a very patient, very kind and very informative and educational salesperson. I was loaded with questions, had my own ideas of what I needed and together we worked this out and I now have equipment and some juice that I am super happy with!

If I could help any new vaper and share my biggest challenge - it was simply finding the right juice flavor and nic level. Discovering this has made my vaping experience much more pleasurable and it's working and keeping me away from the analogs!

I have learned that after being a PAD ultra light cigarette smoker - that 12 mg of nic (which is the recommended starting level) was so high for me. I dropped it to 6 but found that the juice I had was more VG based and I just don't like that. I've learned that I do well with a 50/50 or 60/40 ratio of vg/pg. As I continued to vape with the 6 mg nic, I learned that it was too much for nighttime as it kept me awake! So I dropped to 3 mg nic in the evening. Until I had all of this figured out, I was still slipping analogs in to assist me with this vaping - now, I think I've got it figured out!

So, my story is mine - but my suggestion is go very slow, otherwise you will become frustrated and spend more money than you need. Get a good handle on vaping and then you'll just spend it because there is cool stuff you want to try! Oh, and continue to read here - it really helps you as you venture into the world of vaping.

Thank you for such a great forum!

glad you found what you like, that's what's most important, remembering we started this to stop smoking, so anything that's enjoyable sure helps (*lights up the brain's pleasure centers which we know the ciggies did along with the nicotine) so if we like it..all the better.

same here I walked into a vape shop a smoker and came out with some gear I hadn't a clue about or how to use (safely especially) then mucked about with different batteries and tanks and settling in on stuff we like (quit with my guy which sure helped having a in home support system and someone to share vaping with! ) :)

and just for you...a pretty in pink....

I did the same thing so dont feel bad. I bought a iclear16d tank that killed my one battery because it was trying to vape a dual coil tank, after I asked them if a reg battery would work with the tank. Its a great tank, but needs a itaste or ego type battery. I also tried the smoketech pyrex aro, which is great, but not fantastic. In fact, I am running one of those 3 dollar disposable tanks and it lasts long and delivers great clouds of cool vape compared to some other tanks...
