So maybe what happened concerning BE is a blessing in disguise. It is making vendors be a bit more responsible.
Also making vapors more aware of the possible dangers.
This is meant as a positive post.

I see it as one of the most positive things to have happened in vaping, truly. This initial situation is genuinely horrible, but thank god no one died...that we know of. But the responses I am getting from vendors tells me high level QC is the future now, it just has to be implemented. And I am working on it, night and day. They know this is a win-win for them too. Once they find out that pretty good testing is available for not a lot of money, it was most certainly be used as a stamp of quality, as it should have been all along. Some do test now, and have for a long time, but many many do not.

We humbly request that if you have purchased a bottle of unflavored e-liquid from us between May and August 2011, that you place the bottle in a zip-lock plastic bag and mail it back to us.

Please have the date of purchase or the order ID number and we will be more than willing to issue a Return Merchandise Authorization Number.

We also ask that if you return a product to us that you do so via the US Postal Service and that you send the product via Flat Rate Priority Mail to the following address:

Bless you, Kurt. I ran across this thread while sitting here happily vaping away on juices I ordered from Gourmet Vapor 11/7 of this year. I'm new to e-cigarettes & just trying out new flavors (they're all new to me) so don't really know what they're supposed to taste like. This, coupled with the fact I have no sense of smell, might leave me vulnerable to vaping essence of polecat if it were mislabeled. I've been using e-liquids in 9 different flavors from this order since it arrived and for the moment I'm still kicking, but your work has inspired me to go ahead and flush out my cartos. I think I have enough juice from another vendor to get me through until I can get another shipment, and fortunately there's not much of the GV batch to warrant concern.

I agree, this event is a necessary & generally positive occurrence for the vaping community. The shame of it is, it may likely be seen as an invitation for governmental regulation. My hope is, of course, that the industry will self-regulate, as opposed to being "regulated" by an inept government agency.

Thank you sincerely Sir for sounding the alarm before (we must hope) any real damage was done.

The question I have is have any other independent tests been done on this juice? What risks are there for the people who have used it?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm pregnant. I no longer vape, but used their juice for nearly a year while trying to get pregnant. What did I expose myself and my baby to? So far, I'm 4 months along and things *seem* ok, but I haven't done any of the invasive or really conclusive tests. Is there anything I need to talk to my doc about?

I emailed Box Elder, but after this SNAFU I really don't think I trust them.

I wont be purchasing any NIC from BE after this and to tell you the truth I am rather fed up with all the emails from BE.
@Brad from BE, please include an unsubscribe option and comply with the CAN-SPAM Act.

Do you have information that Ms Ts gets their nic from BE? I haven't seen that anywhere else yet.

For me, the answer was enough to continue using her juice that I already have but I will not be recommending her juices to others and will quote her reply in that thread when the subject comes up in the future.

As Kurt (my hero!) said in this thread, I hope that disclosing the source of the nic and their testing practices or, even better, the juice maker testing and proving their juice is of good nic content becomes industry standard. If it does, then this Box Elder fiasco will be a watershed moment in vaping.
