As you can see by the global thread at the top of each page ^^^^^, the FDA is trying yet again to ban ecigs. If you haven't, take a moment of your time and visit the thread. Page one has two links which makes it incredibly easy to set up an email to your reps (1 minute or less), and myself and others have posted copy/paste 'templates' for you to use, so that you don't actually have to write out an email. The entire ordeal would take you less than 3 minutes, guaranteed.

Ranting aside, I want to invest in a mod, mechanical or regulated, for a mere 50$. I currently own a vamo v2 which, for details unknown to myself (assuming its the soldered screw), seems to be aging as far as function goes, and two spinners which aren't too reassuring from my perspective. I figured this would be the forum to approach, as you guys are incredibly versed in the language of mods. Any and all help is appreciated.

Clones are always an option, and some perform nearly as good as the originals they are copying. But other than that, the Kamry K100 is around $30 and is well-performing and the Smoktec Natural is good as well

I hate to beat a dead horse, but the SVD for 37 bucks at fasttech is hard to beat for longevity and build quality. You already have the batteries and charger and nothing beats a a variable voltage (or wattage) device in my opinion for versatility.

Ive moved on to a Provari, but both my old SVD's are still in use by other family members.

The MVP is a great choice also if you dont mind a square Mod.

Gonna jump in with maybe an unpopular opinion but I have burned through several clones: Nemesis (only works in 18350 mode now), Bagua broken, magneto broken, and sigelei #24 delrin threading gave way and fire button only works 50% of time. I wish I had the $100 or so dollars back and would spend on the MVP v2, Sabre Touch VV or BAM. Course I bought those anyway but I would have the $100 left to buy something else.
I know other people get decent results out of the clones and I am sure I will try more in the future but your first Mod should be built to last IMHO

How, exactly, did you break a Magneto, in a way that couldn't be fixed?

I didn't so much buy this setup because it was cheap and affordable, but because it was first venture into mechanical mods
Not to mention to continuous good reviews about both my RDA and mod were consistently good
For $35 or so I purchased a Kamry K100(w/o batteries or charger) from myvaporstore.com
For $20 I purchased a Igo-W from my local store, can also be purchased on myvaporstore.com
Both these had good reviews all around and I now use it where ever I go
Next venture is into a $200-$400 range of a mechanical and RDA

Ok I've bookmarked this thread because the suggestions are all so great. So far, I've picked up an IGO-L and a Kamry K101 with 2 IMR Efest 18350 batteries for a little over 50$. I do plan, however, to buy more of these devices as my budget opens up a bit, which I'm hoping will be within the next few days. I have my eye on the brass Nemesis clone and the SVD. Again, I really do appreciate all the information guys.

Question. I have 2 18650 batteries that I was told are of high quality, which I use for my Vamo. They read -

ORBTRONIC Hybrid IMR High Drain Li-Mn/Li-ion 2250mAh 3.7V
10A Max Discharge Current.

Can I use these batteries in a mech mod? I know that there are differences between the batteries you should be using between mods and regulated devices, but unfortunately I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject.

Those batts are the same cells as in Panasonic cgr ch. Several months ago they would have been regarded as one of the best available but several others have come out since with higher amp ratings. That being said, they are still really good batteries. I wouldn't push them with a coil below .6Ω to leave some room for safety, but they are great at .8~.9Ω which is what I try to stay around.

I received my Pisces clone(not from FT, i got it from vaporbreak) and a 2nd ithaka clone today, and i can't recommend this setup enough. The pisces is tiny, it's shorter in 18650 mode than my svd on 18350 mode and the ithaka is great, the airflow, the warmth, everything hits the right spots for me :)

If you don't need an atomizer and want a VW device i have to recommend the MVP2.0 from FT, i have the v1 and it's the device that gets used most of the time. Huge battery life, VV/VW, ego/510 threading, ohm check, battery check, protection, your full cast of characters :p and it goes for 46 at FT.

Thank you, I appreciate the reassurance. I don't plan to go below 1ohm for a while. I'll be using 30g and wrapping until I reach 1ohm or higher. I'm assuming that will be around 9 to 10 wraps?
