$2 a E -cig hurts the cigalike brands a lot. $5 max per transaction-better buy 120 mil bottles of e-liquid[ or does "transaction" include buying 4 30mil bottles of e-liquid?]. People like this council person and the Mayor are the true Definition of -Holier Then Thou - or Smokers Nicotine users are easy Targets as nobody likes them----Thanks to the yrs long Stigma Campaign of the Public Health Org.'s

I wonder if there's anyone in Philly that would know how to smuggle in cigarettes?

Oh, and still manages to work in the 'think of the children' angle.

Yeah because giving more money to school always makes the schools better right? lol I know it hasne worked here in NYS. If they want ot make the schools better then need to restrict the size and power of the teachers union, but lord knows that will never happen. What a bunch of jokers

EDIT: oh yeah, and get rid of this common core BS

They ousted the teachers union last week or earlier this week. Cancelled the contract. Are claiming it is the healthcare the teachers wouldn't concede on, but hearing an interview with a union rep, it was upping class size caps to 50 that they wouldn't bend on. So, now they're in charge of oversight, and oh yeah, we're going to tax the bejezus out of ecigs for the kids. It seems a poorly veiled attempt to line pockets, honestly.

Honestly? We have teachers with doctorate degrees that teach our students yet are hampered by idiots in Washington that think they know how to educate our students... I won't go over all the keystone cop antics of our current and past 2 presidents and their administrations.

Surprisingly blunt admission of why tax. No other justification than, "we need the money".

"When we know our school district is starving for revenue," Brown said Wednesday, "every penny counts. We have to think outside the box and come up with new reoccurring revenue streams."

I have lived in Northern Delaware for almost my entire life, so all I hear is Philly news. They have been putting taxes on everything, cigs, soft drinks, for the sole purpose of funding their terrible public schools, that have no revenue because they wont close the old schools that they don't have a need for, and they don't know how to budget anything. *end rant*

Im not saying that no child left behind was the right plan either, but from what I have see not the common core, it is just ridiculous. how to add 22 + 14 + -2 -4 +10 + 10 +10 + (2+4) = 36 or whatever

Sorry for the off topic but I have to comment. My kids brought this home one day and asked for help. I said okay lets add it. I showed the how.. the first way.. they looked at me and said, Daddy, you are doing it wrong. I said huh? My wife (who is a teacher with her doctorate) explained the new way. I said really? She said how ridiculous it is but has some basis in some study. I said okay do it your way I will do it my way. I did it in my head and waited the 5 minutes for them to do whatever that garbage is. I prompted told my kids to tell their teacher they are doing it wrong. My wife shook her head and said the teacher has no choice they have to teach it this way.

I went to get a beer and said no wonder our kids are stupid. We have politicians teaching them.

To tie into the OP. It is the same with the taxes. How can we maximize the taxes without making the greatest % of the population mad? It is silly.

And when the pols get a new tax passed "for the kids" or some other worthy cause like police, fire, first responders, the new earmarked tax goes towards what it is supposed to but the 'old' funding disappears back into the general fund. So if the state is putting 250 million/year into the schools and a new tax generates 250 million just for the schools, then instead of getting 500 mil/year for schools they just get the 'new' 250 million. And you don't even get a "Thanks, sucker"...

As long as people keep putting the same people in office, we'll continue to have our money taken from us.

I knew a guy who live in a city that had business regulations that stifled him. In his knew location, he continued to vote for the same mentality. If enough people do the same, I wonder if he will just move again or realize he voted for the same people with a different name and thus just spread the bad government policies.
