501, when to replace the atomizer?

Hey guys, I'm not looking for a timeline or a best before date or anything, but what are the symptoms you experience when the atomizer should be replaced?

I know #1.
1. no smoke at all (even after blowing out the overflowed atomizer)


But I'm having some probs and I'm wondering if new atomizers are the way to go.

2. hot hot hot atomizer. granted I did consistent vaping for about 5 mins but this thing is very hot to the touch... burn risk even.
3. flavor gone. I really don't taste the flavor much anymore. The juice was shipped to me about 1 month ago so dunno. Could it be the poly fill or tea bags need to be flushed and dryed? anything else?
4. small amount of smoke the 3rd or 4th and subsequent puffs after a cart refill. Embarrasingly small where its nearly any exhalation vapour


Can anyone dispell the above atomizer replacement causes or add more "signs you need a new atomizer"?

After watching the videos I thought little to no vapor was normal....LOL

Maybe try a new one and see if the old one was the problem.

well.... I rinsed the filling in my cartridges this evening and refilled the juice... vaping is back up to par... I didn't know I had to do that.

Either way, how do you know its time to get a new atomizer?

There is a thread in the Technical Issues folder that tells how to check the voltage. You might want to check that out. I think it is a sticky.

But you do need to keep the wadding freshened. You can buy a huge bag of the stuff at Walmart (look in crafts where the quilting supplies are) for under five bucks and it should last you well into the next decade. If you are using the nylon bags, I would rinse and dry them frequently, too.

I have had atomizers that seemed doomed, but so far all of them I have bought are working. If they get too persnickety, I soak them for an hour or so in mouthwash, then blow it through a few times, rinse and stand it up to dry. That usually does the trick. If it doesn't I throw it back in the mouthwash.

One 901 atomizer wouldn't do squat from the get-go. I bought some in bulk, so I wasn't too irritated. The initial mouthwash soak didn't help, so I soaked it over night. Still nothing. I figured I wasn't losing anything by letting it sit in mouthwash for a week and a half. I am using that atomizer right now.

What exactly did you get at WalMart? What product specifically? I'd like to get some of that, so I don't have to buy new carts all the time since the plastic part oughta last a very, very long time. Thanks!

There are several brands and kinds, but what I got is Morning Glory High Loft Quilter's Polyester Batting. No particular reason--just what I grabbed.

Look for the table where they cut fabric--there should be a whole wall of quilt batting near it.

And yeah, the plastic mouthpieces last a good long time
