Hey guys - I've got to ask, what is the biggest difference between the 510 and the 901 atomizers? I've only used a 510 at this point, and I love it to death, but I've heard plenty of people swear by the 901. So I'm just wondering, to anyone who has used both and can give an accurate comparison - what's the biggest difference between the two? Thanks!

Heat is the biggest difference. And some flavors are enhanced by heat and some are subdued. If you favor the fruit, vanilla, lighter type flavors, the 901 (and the 801) will do well with them. If you like the tobacco, cigar, french pipe, coffee, cappuccino stronger flavors, nothing brings them out like a 510. In either case you will still get some flavoring either way, just that the heat helps in some cases and not in others.

The other aspect of the whole cig is that the 510 is usually a manual and the 901 is usually an auto, although you can get 510 autos and 901 manuals but the 901 manuals have had many reported problems. I use the 901 on the 510 manual batt with the adapter and since you already have the 510 that is the way I'd advise you to go. They're both 'minis' so the 901 fits with the 510 well. Get the adapter at heaven gifts for $1.99 with shipping (which means you should just add it as part of a bigger order ;-) or at altsmoke for @$7.00. but you may have to pay shipping there too.

If you get that an a few 901 attys (and carts) you'll get to experience the benefits of that with the lighter flavors without buying a kit. And the 510 to 901 adapter would also allow you to try cartomizers.

If you decide to buy a 901 kit, make sure you get one with 2 attys - most are sold with 1 atty for the same price as a 510 kit with 2 attys.

I concur with everything commented on here..by Kent C.. but I would also like to add that the 510 last a lot longer in both juice ( carts hold more with the 510), consistent draws ( 901 is touch and go... they seem to dry out really quick and if you have a high bridge 901 atty.. forget it... those burn out in less than two weeks-YMMV but that has been my experience.), all the juice I set aside because it tasted like cardboard in my 901.. was outstanding in my Titan 510, 2 out of every 3 901 atties in every order that I placed arrived DOA- no matter what vendor( Meter test reflected bad OHMS every time), and I would only get two refills on the 901 before the cart would be so loose fitting in the atty that it leaked quite frequently. Now, this is just my personal experience and the 901 was my first e-cig.. so, user error may be at play.... But, I have done nothing different using my 510 and I would have to say that the 510 is a far better product. Enough of my ranting.... but I will say that if you are looking for lighter flavors- The 901 does give those type flavors the character and tone that most lite smokers enjoy. Robust candy flavors just don't work in my opinion.. and the 510 does steal a little of the thunder for the sweet tooth.

my $0.02 worth, take it for what it is worth.

I'm going to disagree a bit. I'm exclusively a tobacco flavour vaper, and use all my atomisers on a "big battery device" (in my case a Screwdriver)... This means I'm actually vaping at around 4.2v most of the time.

My experience is that the 510 has the most hit, but the 901 gives best flavour the way I'm using them.

Professor, we might not be that far off. With mods where you're getting peak voltage the 901 does much better than the 901 on an ecig batt. So I'll give you that but I won't give you that it is better than the flavor with a 510 on a mod at 4.2. I might agree if you would have said 5V. There, the throat hit on the 510 takes away from the flavor, imo, on some flavors.

But I was talking mainly regarding the 901 on an ecig batt and on an adpater for a 510 batt at that, which would be a good way for any 510 owner to go now that adapters are available.

Hey Tom - I found this to be the case as well. A good reason why someone shouldn't discount a flavor - even if it's a light flavor on a 510 too, because it could taste better on a 901 or for me more so, a 801. But bland flavors on the 801 and 901 can come to life on the 510 as if it didn't even come from the same bottle. And there is always that subjective taste thing going too but the stronger tobacco and coffee flavors really wake up to the heat.

Well - we're all different :) I speak as it is for me ;) I do agree though that now adapters are so readily available it makes sense to try out a range of attys. I currently have 801/401/510/901 capability and will shortly have 4081 and 808 capability as well.

Yeah, isn't it great! :) As Willy pointed out, you do have to watch the power/resistance factors in some combos but I'm enjoying the experiments with cartomizers. I won't go as far as to say I'm enjoying cartomizers in general - I am with a few, but I'm enjoying the experience. I found another good one tonight - V4Life's french pipe - good flavor, good vapor.

I just felt you hit a strong point and were right on the money!!! I am not against the 901 entirely.. It just doesn't work for me. I am sure glad that I didn't throw out all that juice that I paid good money for and I still think that subjective taste will always play a factor but I also think that many jump to conclusions about what they are tasting from their juice, decide it is not for them, throw it away or sell it, and find out later that 1.) Either the unit they were using did not meld well with the juice or 2.) They didn't give their taste and smell a chance to recoup for just quitting smoking therefore, they definately lost out if they threw all that money right in the drain... LOL( not at them but just the thought of someone realizing that without ever having the thought!!)

I do agree with the point that we are all different.. I use a SD MKII , initially came with the 901 atty which I later adapted to a 510. I still use my 901 atties on occasion but I only tailpipe them because after the second refill on every cart... they became so loose fitting that they would leak quite often. Plus, I also had the problem with the position of the hole at the bat end of the 901 atty ( always dribbling juice outside of the atty). I no longer have any of these problems with the 510 but the tone of some flavors in the 901 do have a favorable characteristic... Like both of you have pointed out.
Anyway, just thought I would reply with my reasoning and I hope it makes sense.
