Ok, so I have been JAZZED about ordering my new 510. It arrived today after only 2 days waiting, very cool.

I have been using my Luci and have been pretty happy with it, but I wanted a lot more vapor, and from all reports, the 510 was the best option. So I ordered it up with a ton of carts and a PCC.

I figured while I'm charging my extra battery and PCC, I'd give it a whirl to see how much vapor I would get.

Primer puff.... good even drag and it cuts off at about 3 seconds! WTF? My Luci will run the full 5 seconds. No more vapor from the 510 than I get from the smaller Luci.

LED isn't flashing to let me battery power is low, so that doesn't seem to be it. It was charged enough to probably get through a full cart.

Am I expecting too much? I'm getting about HALF the vapor I have seen in youtube 510 videos, and it cuts off very quickly. Yes, it's the auto battery, I did not want a switch.

Is it one of the new style atomizers? With a silver ring surrounding the steel wick?

I ordered some atomizers last week and when they came they were the new style. My old carts are a smidge too small and fall out of it and after using one I found they dont produce vapor like the old style.

I cant help you on the cutoff your experiencing, but 3 seconds sounds ridiculous to me. I use a manual battery.

Why not make the auto battery have a higher cut off? 3 seconds is barely time to get a hit, and we all know there are times when you just wanna hang your e-cig out of your mouth and puff (bars, etc) and dont wanna push a button....

If you are lucky and sun is properly aligned with the planets you might get a 510 'auto' battery that actually works right. The ones that work right don't have a cutoff on them! But this person got one of the bad 510 auto batteries and most of them are bad. Bottom line... the auto batteries for 510s are complete junk.

Don't say you weren't warned.
:)

Okay, so now that you DO have automatic batteries, here is what I suggest...
Stand in front of a mirror and practice.

And here is how I eventually figured out how to get decent drags with automatic batteries...
1) Start with light drags, and see what it really takes to get the battery activated
2) Now find out the best way to draw on it so you keep the battery on for as long as possible
3) The best way to use an automatic battery is generally longer, lighter drags
4) But sometimes you can increase your draw strength mid-hit and get away with it
5) Get a manual battery and try that

I really didn't want a manual battery, I sought out a place that offered it in auto.

Maybe I'll buy one manual just to see. Where is the cheapest source for a manual 510??

Thanks Deadcat, I understand... I have had zero issues vaping with my Luci, it works great, so I have had some time to practice with that one :) Believe me... it isn't me.

Maybe you need to practice with this one too.
They might work differently enough that you need a different technique.

I can't really say much more, though, because I've never used a 510 automatic battery.
My automatic battery experiences come from my NPro (RN4081) model.

I still use it sometimes, for dripping, because without a cartridge I can get a much better draw and the battery activation issues become almost negligible. But really, now when I want to drip I just attach a 306 atomizer to my 510 manual battery, and the RN4081 is probably going to get shipped to my sister in Arizona.

well well well notwell. seems all this hype for the manuals killed production of the auto or what ?

my wife only uses her 2 janty auto batteries and its working like a charm. strange and unbelievable ? maybe. now if one fails its getting more and more difficult to get news ones now.

3 second drag ? at least her dura batteries are good for 7 seconds.
i know that the sensor can fail if its flooded with liquid. but i also had manuals getting defect.

By the way, I sometimes like to play with the 306 manual batteries I got along with my 306 atomizers. And I have found with those that if I take three straight draws I can get a really great smoke out of them. But you have to use them only at night, so you can see when the light goes off, wait just a second, then inhale again.
