How is this done and does anyone recommend it. What is so great about removing the bridge and wick? If it makes your vaping better lets hear about it.

i did it to an atty that was tasting real burnt, i don't care for it, i hear its better for dripping and im a dripper so i gave it a shot, not for me, now i have a bridgeless/wickless atty sitting around in my case. live and learn i guess. on the up side, the burnt taste is gone lol

I only do it to revive a dead atty and I have had some sucess. I have an LR that lasted 24 hours and then dead. Did the bridgectomy then pinched the atty coil back together. The thing hits like a champ now. I did not like the hit without a wick so I replaced the wick and I am happy w/the performance. The vape is slightly warmer without the bridge. I doubt I would do this on a well functioning atty but if I can use it to resurrect one the BONUS!

I have been drippping almost exclusvely since january and have never removed wicks or bridges - personally I dont see it as necessary but some people like it. I agree with Liv2Ski I wouldnt attempt it on a good atty but if it brought a dead one back to life it might be worth a shot (plus you aren't messing up a fave atty).

My blu atties didn't seem to be wicking well, so I removed the bridges on both of them, and now they hit much better. I use them only for dripping with 306 drip tips. The juice is much more flavorful and produces a lot more vapor this way. The only problem though, is that it seems to have made it much easier to flood the atty. No problems with batteries so far, been using the drip tips like this for about 3 weeks now, maybe more.

Michael Smith, If you're talking about removing the bridge from the BLU, then no, it will not pull the coil with it. If you're asking about the 510, I have no idea, as I do not yet have my 510. It should be delivered today. And yes, at lest with the blu, it increases vapor production AND throat hit. Sometimes it'll actually make me cough if I take too big of a drag. And the vapor that comes off of it makes it look like I'm hitting a blunt or a hookah as opposed to a cigarette. Like I said though, be careful when doing this. It's a lot easier to put too much juice in and flood the atomizer with the bridge removed because that wicking material is no longer there to slow down the process of the juice getting to the coil and going past it.

All you have to do to remove the coil is get a pair of pliers, squeeze the two "arms" of the bridge together, and then pull it out. I saw in some youtube video that you should also try to remove as much of that rough spongy stuff from around the coil as you can also, but I don't know how important this is. I definitely didn't remove it all, and it works fine.

If I pull out there Bridge it wont Pull out the Coil will it?

No. The bridge is not attached to the coil.

FWIW: I remove the wicks on EVERY atomizer I own. It's the first thing I do. Needless to say, I am a dripper. It improves the draw on most atomizers, though some of them (like the cheapo LR's I tried from HappySmokes.com) need the wick to maintain a draw that isn't like sucking complete air. Removing the wick gets rid of the nasty "I need a few more drops, I should've known that" taste you get when dripping. It is not the solution for you if you use carts. But honestly, I find carts to be a PITA anyways.

Just did this the other day and it's AWESOME. Vapor tastes so much better and fuller. It makes the atty easier to clean and easier to tell when you need some more drips. It also seems to increase the potency of the nicotine. If you're a dripper, DO THIS!

On a side note, it would be nice if vendors offered a bridge/wick-less atomizer, so I wouldn't have to perform surgery on them... I have shaky hands.

Well I started this thread when I had no atty issues just wondering if it made the 510 better. Then at work today I had my favorite joye atty start to taste bad and not hit very well and it got worse and worse. So I blew out all the juice removed the wick and it stil was not right. So I pulled out the bridge and almost pulled the entire guts of the atty out so i carefully finished removing the bridge then pushed the guts back down towards the threads and WHAMO better than new. The Backwoods Brew is better than ever.

What is the purpose of the bridge and how does the atty function without it. Doesn't it heat up with the coil. i understand the idea behind the wick and it's pretty much useless for drippers, good for carts if you keep them wet. never heard of bridge removal before
<--- interested

PS - I am assuming this is not for cart users. It makes sense to have direct coil access for drip, but cart?
