510 Carto Question

Hello all.

While waiting for my Cameleon switches to come in I am back to a regular 510 battery and am using a carto that I got in my last shipment from Isaac.

I looked around for advice about filling it and had success from the battery end along with the twirl or shake technique. Took a bit more than 20 drops which is good. Issue is this: throat hit is very harsh, almost like a regular 510 when it is getting too dry. Even when first filled I get this. I understand that I cannot hit this like I am dripping, it takes time for the atty to get wet. Is this the norm or am I missing something here?

Trying to fill the time until I can get back to the 2.0 waiting on my desk. Stalking the Post Office for a package. In fact, think I'll take another walk down there.

Yeah, it's right. Thats why i dont care too much about cartomizers in general, the actual feel is intensified by the build and it's just a little too much imo. I would suggest trying out a 901 or an 801. They both give very smooth draws and are plenty flavorful. The 510 takes away flavor to provide actual feel as odd as it sounds. The 801 gives off the most flavor while toning down the actual feel just a bit and the 901 is the middle ground between both the 510 and 901. You have the device to utilize all three so i'd say experiment a bit and find what does you right.

On the 510 cartos you can fill them by popping off the top and dripping down the side. I can get 30 drops in one. As far as harshness goes, I only get that if I scorched the filler. That happens if you let it get too dry or vape too hard too fast and get it too hot. Once the filler burns it's over, toss the carto and get a new one. There is a learning curve to using them, but once you get it down where you don't burn them, they are fantastic. Just top them off often and keep them wet. Personally I think Isaac's 510 cartos are the bests cartos I've ever used.

There is a caveat she forgot to mention. Although some might get away with vaping a carto after refilling using the Taryn Spin method, it is better to let them sit for a day or so prior to vaping. This ensures an equal distribution of the liquid within the carto.

We see videos of folks hitting a carto almost like if they were dripping. That will result in not only an overhaeated coil (= premature life), but burning of the filler, and hence as she stated, a totally useless carto afterwards.

Take a look at the picture of the 510 carto cartomizers - E-Cigarette Forum and you will come to understand why. It needs a rest between pulls.

Not knowing what ratio you vape PG/VG the following is pure speculation at this time. Many have reported ((drippers (who normally drip higher VG or pure VG concentrated liquids)) have reported cartos do not deliver the liquid quick enough. Absolutely true! VG needs to be reduced 4/1 with distilled water to give it the consistancy of PG base juices. This hemoginy will still produce tons of vapour but flow as intended for carto use. Furthermore, highly concentrated VG liquids have a tendency of prematurely clogging filler material.

There is most definitely a learning curve to using cartos. Switched and WW are right on all counts. I've been using cartos exclusively for 15 months now, and what Switched points out about allowing them to sit for a day or so is spot-on. The filler material needs that time for proper wicking.

I think once you get the hang of using them, you will be amazed at how much you love the convenience!

Absolutely Cartos have a great flavor and I like em better than Aties as well and they are way less in cost to use. The 510 Cartos that now come in the LR version are drop dead perfect in my opinion and I think they will dominate the market soon.

I'm still getting used to the cartos but what works best for me is filling and spinning them all before bed and letting them marinate overnight. That way the liquid really has a chance to soak in. While I'm vaping during the day, I top them off with 5 or 6 drops fairly frequently (which is still a lot less often than I did when I used carts.)

WW, I have yet to get the switches, hopefully today. I got an Indulgence to get me through. Not nearly the PV that the Chameleon is, but it shipped locally and it does work. Inconsistent at HV, but pretty good at 3.7. It will become back up as soon as switches appear.

Switched, I think I may have burned the filler on my first carto, I have another 510 I will try and a 808D to try as well. I filled and waited an hour after the first fill. That first fill may have been the burning one. Impatience can be deadly I suppose. I saw a thread about taking out the filler and using spent/burnt carto for dripping. I may try that with this one and try another with longer soak time. Filled from the bottom as that was the first info I saw for the cartos. I bought them for driving. Hard to drip into a drip tip while on the road, especially after dark and a few adult beverages.

I readily admit that all this is just something for me to obsess on so I do not think of other things that are not going well for me at this time.

Hey Lex... I tried to pull out the filler and drip on Isaac's 510 cartos and believe me you don't want to do it. It works well on the cartos with the wire up through the center, but these are different. When I did it with one of these it tasted like the bottom of an ashtray. It was horrible. I don't what makes the difference but these are better with the filler left in. Not to mention the filler in these are caught between parts on the bottom and it is extremely hard to get out unless you cut the carto apart. I posted pics in the other carto thread that Switched put the link for. You can see in the third pic where the filler is ripped on one corner, that is from pulling it out from between the plastic bottom and the brass connector. They hook the filler in there during assembly so it stays put and makes it very difficult to pull out.

I tried pulling the filler out of a vertical wire carto to drip and it is a mess. Leaked out the bottom. Somehow I knew it would, makes sense that it would, but of course I had to try it LOL

Aww Mini! Your not alone on this one. You should see me just trying to re-fill one let alone dismantling it! LOL
