I bought a cheap o depot one from china, and it doesnt work right. It never gets hot enough, so I get a half hit, than no hit, than half hit, etc.. I am not looking for a raped ape, just a normal passthrough that I can maybe hook up to a portable power source for the car. Any suggestions, or suggestions on the charger I have?? It is the kind with the battery box that looks simular to a AAA size battery.

I bought a pass through with my 510 starter from Totally Wicked. I haven't had any problems with it yet. Been using it for 7 days now. It has a usb on one end and I use it in the car quite a bit as I am a service tech who has to drive around.

I spoke with a friend who works at a battery store and he said the battery was a headless AAA and that a standard AAA should work in its place when it dies.

I got one of these for a 510 and for some reason, it was fine for a while; then, I'd have to hit the switch like 3 times before it would fire. Tried changing with several different batteries, etc. and it just didn't work. I'm really looking sideways at any 510 passthrough now. I took the manual switch part off and hooked it up to my own battery system wtih a better cable and things work fine now. Go figger.

I also seem to remember someone posting about soldering the thing in such a way as to have the USB current pass straight through, bypassing the battery and it worked well for them, but don't remember where that post is. As I recall it worked good and preserved the battery function.

Uh... a standard AAA is only 1.5 volts... that isn't going to do much of anything to an atty that's supposed to run at 3.6 volts. The AAA-sized Li-Ion batts that usually come with these put out 3.6-4.2 volts.

Thanks for the info. The battery in mine didn't have a voltage rating printed on it. This may have miss led us.

Oh ya got one of those on the way!:w00t: I too have the one with the battery and sometimes it works good other times it sucks. I'm tired of messing with it.:p

I had a .... load of battery problems with the battery passthrough. I ended up cutting the battery box out, and reconnecting the wires without it. Works great now.
