510 protege adapter working on and off

My 510 adapter doesn't wan to work all of the time. The last time this happened I put a new atomizer on and it worked just fine. Inorder to get it to fire I have to screw and unscrew the atomizer until I get it to fire and then leave it there if I clean the threads I have to start all over. Other times I have to push the brass piece up or down to get it to work. I have tried multiple atomizers.
It doesn't seem to be the tact switch because my 901 adapter works just fine. Any one have any ideas??

I tried eclypse's suggestion and I still have to tighten the atomizer way down to get it to fire. any other suggestions?

This is one of the reasons I no longer use 510's.
I was having the same sort of issues. From one atty to the other it was hard to get it to make contact at the same place / consistently.

You can pull the adapter off of the unit with the atty attached and push up on the center pin to seat it and then screw it back down on the unit.
Do you have the ss adapters or the aluminum?

They are stainless steel. I have tried pushing up on the center pin but it doesn't want to move. I might try again tonight w/ a light tap of the mallet

The centers seem tighter on the SS than they do on the aluminums (which is a good thing).
When you push it back up and screw on another 510, as soon as it contacts the center post and starts to work, stop tightening it down. That way it'll still be high when you change attys. *Just a thought*

As aggravating as the fiddlin can get sometimes, it's still better than analogs

I haven't had an analog in over a year thanks to my first PS 901b. It just frustrating because this 901 adapter or atomizer is harsher than my 510. I'm nowhere near grabbing an analog. I'll try and reset the post again tonight.

Ok maybe I was wrong my switch just went it is now stuck in the on position. Guess I'm back to the 510 manual for a bit while this gets fixed. Casey. I'll be opening a ticket shortly.

Just got my PV2. Really nice. It vapes well with the 510 to 801 adapter, but it won't work with a 510 atty in it. I don't really care for the 801 cart. I want to use 510. Anyone else having this problem?

The 510's all fit a little differently (center post) there's a thread on it somewhere. Try popping the adapter off and pushing the center post up. That should allow it to make contact When you tighten the 510 on don't crank it down. It pushes the center post in and then it won't work on the xxx (adapter or whatever) next time.

I think it's the tact switch itself not the 2 SS pieces over the tact switch. When those two pieces are removed and the switch is screwed back in the atomizer fires immediately even without completely tightening the adapter.

Madhunter ... I'm assuming you are talking about the Prodigy V2? The 510 adapter is a bit different this time around. Make sure to FIRMLY snug the atomizer on, and you should be good to go! We essentially didn't lengthen the post on these ... We trimmed a bit off the top of the outside brass! Snug her up and let me know

Oops ... May have tightened it a bit too much. The entire brass is spinning now? That may be the issue Not a problem on a replacement.

Might want to look at the design. If I needed to tighten it more to get the 510 to work (still didn't) then it tightened too much, where's the tighten cutoff?

Hey Madhunter .... The cutoff on the 510 is when the 510 bottoms out on the center contact post. These are all press fit together -- We can't systematically make each one perfect, but we atleast try! We have tested each and every v2 adapter that has left here to make sure they are working.

As for replacement -- You shoot us the bad one, we shoot you a brand new one
