The first kit i bought was the ego-t, but since im a geek about stuff like this, i also got a joye 510 kit. Standard 2 batteries, 2 atomizers ect... now i like both the ego-t and the 510 and find myself looking for additional batteries, atomizers carts and am somewhat confused by all the brands. is it safe to say a 510 is a 510 is a 510, that its more a type, rather than a brand? Like tires- 15" wheels, but you got yokohomo, good year, peerless, low profile ect?

more specifically i mean i see joye, boge (leo?), Yeti, Smoke Tech and on and on and on. Im trying to develope a "rules of thumb" approach to what works with what, Like- 510 vs 510 "mega"? i see the "mega" designation for both batteries and atomizers/cartomizers... doe it just mean bigger? like longer? or thicker too, will a mega atomizer work on a regular 510 battery? Also, i have a ego-t kit and a joye 510 kit, i noticed (again, im a geek) the atomizer for the 510 will fit on the battery for the ego-t, and it works (more vapor?) fine, but will using it on a bigger battery burn it out early or something?

i got a "rapid charger" usb with my ego-t kit, my 510 bettery will screw in and it charges, but the guy who turned me on to the ego said the rapid charger will kill the 510 battery, is this true?

for the 510 gear, is Joye the main brand and the others "knockoffs"?
Do we know if this: Premium Atomizer
is better/worse than a regular Joye 510?

i know this may be coming across "rapid fire", and im not expecting someone to pick apart each question and answer, just trying get and idea how to keep from making a "noob" purchase.

thanks in advance for any help

ColdSteele don't use the Ego charger on the penstyle 510's. Joye was the first but others like Riva are just as good. 510 is 510 and it refers to the screw in connector. I have all my stuff (MODs eGo etc) with 510 connectors and use adapters if I want to use a different atty. The Mega 510 is a longer higher mah penstyle 510 battery. The 510 and eGo types are all based on 3.7V although they do not actually put out 3.7v. So as long as you are not usuing LR stuff it is pretty much interchangeable. Not sure who is making the atty for Halo but it will work on your gear. If you want a killer buy on Joye attys head over to vaporkings.com and buy the bulk box of 10 for $46! Hope that helps a little and I am sure others will chime in

Yes a 510 is a 510, it refers to the threading used, not the battery. But with that in mind some threadings have different numbers. A 306 threading is the same as a 510 but the atomizer design is different. You can use a 306 on a 510 or visa versa. Mega means bigger, so does XL, but a Mega 510 is referring to the battery. A Mega atty is still a 510 threading and will fit most any device with a 510 connection, but it may or may not take some or all of the same accessories.

Confused? Yeah, I thought so.

The 510 batteries will screw into the eGo rapid charger. The charger puts out too many miliamps so it charges those small batteries too quickly. That can cause a problem. Don't do it. If your eGo batt's will fit on your 510 charger that's ok though, it'll just charge really slowly.

Using a standard atty on an eGo is fine, that's actually what they were designed for. Using LR's at around 2.0 ohms doesn't seem to be a problem either, but anything lower might cause premature battery failure. Using an LR atty on a standard 510 batt is asking for trouble however.

The Halo atty doesn't say what brand it is so it's hard to tell. Joye is one of the premiere brands and they do make some rebranded stuff so it could be a Joye. If you really want to know I'd suggest you ask the vendor.

I hope that answers some of your questions. If you have more just ask.

yea, i hear you on the modding. i do computer cases, specialize in cable management and sleaving (power supplies, data connections, ect...), so yeah- i could geek out ont his stuff soooo easy. every time i come back from the mailbox my wife gives me a look like, "really?", but hey, she knows who she married...

i really just dont wanna go backwards here. i love my ego-t and the joye 510 works pretty awesome too. i read those 200+ pages on the ego-t, saw all the folks having issues with leaking, bad draw, no flavor ect. Right now i'd say im in a flavor phase- trying to see what i like- so far ive only tried VG based juice and what i like about the 510 is i can use the "blank" carty that came on the atomizer to help test the different flavors, i think its what you all call dripping, cause i can go from flavor to flavor quicker and i havent noticed a bit of difference between dripping on the 510 and using the tank system ego-t (but the filler in the 510 carty tastes muted to me and needs to be topped off often to avoid a burning taste.

So this kind of leads me to where i was heading anyway. i was looking around for the best deals on atomizers and batteries- for the Ego-T, seems like a no brainer, not alot of options right now. For the 510, however... holy crap! high voltage, low voltage, low res, 2.0 ohm. 2.5 ohm, 2.8 oms, 3.7v, 4.5v- can someone gimme a rundown on how this impacts "the vaping experiance".

What im going for is vapor, flavor, TH... in that order. and TH would be further down if there were other things to put in front of it. For TH, i wanna know im inhaling more than air, but i dont need a tap dance at the back of my throat.

Here, Cold. See if this little article helps you out a bit with the LR and HV differences.

What Are These LR and HV Atties?

I prefer going with LR atties on 3.7V batteries. The vapor is warmer and more dense. I'm not a big fan of TH, so I use mostly 60PG/40VG juices. I will vape at 5V with a standard atty or cartomizer and rarely vape 6V. HV vaping is too hot for me. I like long, slow drags and I just kill HV atties doing this.

Ego charger is for Ego and can kill 510 batteries
Low resistance attys and cartos are for Ego, can fry the circuits in 510 batteries
High voltage 510 attys are for 510-threaded high voltage ecigs

510 mega batteries are just longer batteries that last 1.5x+ as long. I have some. They use the same charger as 510 but need the longer mega PCC

510 mega atty - I think it is longer inside and fits the 510 mega carts. When I bought my 510 I think they accidentally gave me mega carts - they won't push in all the way on a standard atty (and were very tight too but maybe that is normal)

Ego mega batteries - longer Ego batteries.

BTW all of my batteries are manuals. They are sealed on the end, safe from carto/drip leaks, good for dripping etc. and IMO less work than autos and won't accidentally turn on from wind or vibration

My recommendation of what to try - cartomizers. I like those Boge soft-cap ones (standard resistance). I have been vaping one 1/2 the time (I use 2 PVs during the day, doing about 1/2 my vaping on each) and have now used that Boge carto 4 weeks.

I tried the SLB soft-cap and it works fine but is a bit messier inside - uneven stuffing - like somebody cut a little mattress of thick stuffing, folded it and shoved it in. Barely defined center channel and and inner seal you have to pop out the add juice to the stuffing. However it vapes nicely so far but I have no idea of how long it will work well.

.....for the Ego-T, seems like a no brainer, not alot of options right now. For the 510, however...

The Battery from your eGo-T is simply a souped up 510 battery. Anything you want to try that is threaded for a 510 will work on your eGo-T batteries (except the charger - but you can get an adapter to make it work),

However, NOT everything that works on your eGo will work on your standard 510 batteries due the the constraints of a less powerful battery: For example you must not charge your 510 battery on your eGo charger, you can but should not use LR atomizers on your 510 battery, you cannot use eGo mego cartomizers on your 510 battery....

The eGo batteries are more versatile than the 510 batteries -- even though they are threaded to use the same components.

Happy Vaping.
