Allright so its more like 5.5 months but I though I had a thread I started when I first made the switch.
well 6.5 months ago actually. I had a bunk product similar to the blu (their advertising compain it what got me into vaping so if you rich buy a couple blu's and put them in a museum case) this product exploded on me and the supplier hooked me up with a 510 in exchange. the month lag was my fault for being lazy and busy with stupid stuff.
So I get the 510 and went with some tobacco flavor and 36mg unflavored. i also picked up a fresh pack of smokes. whenever i wanted a smoke i would debate the two at first. it did require a little effort on my part at that point. a managed to drag a friend into ecigs at this point and i went with him to pick up his order and the supplier hooked us up with some coke flavor. i did not care for the cola flavor but did pick up some menthol crystals as i previously smoked newports
wow i forgot a lot in 6 months. i know in the first two weeks i smoked one pack of analogs. learned 36mg straight was way too strong. coke + lots of menthol tastes like an altoid and was a lot better than tobacco flavor. i think i honestly smoked half the pack in the first 2 days, then 1 analog when i first got up until the pack was so stale the taste of that last morning cigarette was so ....ty it did not even get finished.
so i learned those things in the first couple weeks. the next couple weeks of that month was a bit less confusing. i had realized ecigs did function for me as a great replacement. i decided to try more and more flavors. in those next two weeks i also determined i am a 24mg vaper
i can get by with 18mg but i will be constantly vaping. a drop or two of 24mg approximates a cig in such that i am fine for the next hour or so.
now for the fast forward section. i was happily in my new habit. the 510 seemed to last longer than i was expecting. i learned about some more care and basically went with what seemed logical and so far has worked fine for me:
if i over fill the cart and am getting some in my mouth. i take the tip off and blow through it. you can see the little hole the vapor gets pulled through. when blowing backwards through it, excess juice will come out and can be wiped off with a shirt or rag. e-juice does not appear to stain.
occasionally (specially when the above does not seem to work) i will remove the atty and blow backwards through it and mop up the juice that comes out around the threads. if i do this i do it really good and put a single drop on the tip of the atty's metal wick.
10ml of juice per atty/tip and then both get cleaned with just hot water. and thoroughly dried. the wadding in the tip seems to be good for a couple uses this way, but apparently does not work to well past a couple cleanings.
i pay attention during normal usage pcc on the go. usb pasthrough when i am sitting at the desk. i make sure im on the go with a different battery each day. the 510 kit comes with 2 batteries and i got about 5 months of use out of one kit. one battery died and the other was in pretty sad shape at the end of those 5 months. later on i will say its effective usage is 3 months
so now lets see i covered the initial fact that switching is magical and it will take a minimum effort on the users part. some tips about care and mainence. that fact that just because you are replacing tobacco cigs does not mean you still have to taste a cigarette. ahhh i almost missed the alcohol part. a buddy of mine did the chantix thing. and it worked for him, unless he was drinking alcohol. i have the same thing with analogs. if im drinking i want a puff off an analog. it tastes like ..., and i normally wont do it again for hours but still. there seems to be some good information in this thread regarding additional addictive substances possibly in analogs in this thread:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/nicotine/44958-so-we-getting-we-not-nicotine.html
my experiences say there is a little something else in analogs that you do not get from ecigs. and the little graph someone has in that thread may help people understand why all the differences in quitting via replacement methods.
if you are familiar with basic electricity this may be of interest. it obviously is to me:

search the forums if you are having any sort of issues. be mindfull that you will hit an ecig a bit differently than an analog and that may take some practice.
i believe i have covered most of the basics. oh wait i almost missed one. you may want to check up on quitting analogs and normal side effects. personally i got one hell of a sore throat here and there. and even 6 months out my gums bleed easier. my mouth seems to miss the protective layer of tar in it. yes as these years have went by i am proud i do not have the whitest teeth and the greatest oral hygene. this is a bit off the topic, but now at 31 it seems the people who always had the best oral hygene have issues on par with those that had the worst. but back on topic my mouth is a bit more sensitive to things (i think the thin layer of tar has something to do with it) but i barely get winded and when i do its no where near the state it used to be. i still ride my little kids bike at skateparks and such. i always push my body to those points CONSTANTLY and numerous times in an evening. my lungs seem more on par with my physical endurance capabilities these days.
my cost break down in the most expensive manner possible
ecig kit $60 ... lasts 12 weeks
e juice $84 ... $7 per 10ml bottle per week for 12 weeks
total $144 for 3 months of vaping
6.50 for a pack of smokes (newports and i honestly dont even know the price of a pack of analogs anymore but it should be close) a day and 84 days in 12 weeks comes to $546 bucks for 3 months of analogs. $402 bucks every 3 months. yes its true and your mileage will of course vary.
*disclaimer* if i drop over dead i will not post the negative news. a) i would not want to be accused of being a troll and b) im dead dip.... how the hell can i post if i am dead? besides i dont think there is enough room in the casket for a laptop.
