I find now that being around cigarette smoke really gets to me. I hate that smell now. Also burns my eyes pretty quickly. Makes me wonder why I smoked for so long in the first place.

Same here. My husband is still smoking and every time he walks back inside from having a smoke, I tell him he smells. I never noticed how terrible it was until after I stopped. I'm hoping to get him to try vaping soon. I'd like to keep him around, ya know?

To the original poster - Congrats on taking the first steps toward a smoke free life. You're a testament to the fact that anyone with the will to stop, even after so many years, can be successful. Best of luck to you and your wife.

Buy him a Blu disposable unit (24mg) from Walgreens $8 for Valentines day, with a box of chocolates of course! Put it in his car and tell him whenever he runs out of cigs to use it as a "back-up". They are the perfect starter unit for anyone that "might" give it a shot.

P.S. Don't mess with the Blu kits, they "suck" and not in a good vaping way. : )

YW, DummyMe....began short wave listening (SWL) in 1960 and got licensed as a HAM in 1977. I share your pain as I lost my pops to lung cancer April 10, 2011....he was on straight Camels for over 70 years, right up until a couple of hours before the end.

kren....my pops lived out on Canaveral Groves Road in Cocoa (stepmom's still there) and I have a brother and cousins spread from Satellite Beach to Melbourne. I was born in Ocala and we moved to Palm Bay in 1950. My uncle Ward began working pre-NASA at Radiation, Inc in June Park in 1949; moved to NASA at the beginning as an electrical design engineer. My uncle Howard was USAF and ran the 6550th AP detachment at PAFB for 33 years....they handled all the security at the Cape. Pops took over culinary services at Wideawake Airfield on Ascension Island in 1962 and then took over the Officer's and NCO messes at Patrick Air Force Base in 1990 or 91 when NASA shut down the Eastern Monitoring Station on Ascension.

We're doing good with the ecigs....we never even think about analogs unless someone mentions them. Prices are considerably higher out at SuperFlea but it's available in a pinch. I was just out there today for parts and juice, made some discoveries my searches hadn't turned up yet, which I'll report in another thread later. Thanks for the good words and good luck to you also.

PaporPlas....thanks but we don't consider ourselves deserving. After all the studying up I did and reading all the success stories, we've considered ourselves to have done no more than normally adapt to the change. We got lucky, I guess....found the right juices and satisfactory equipment from the get-go. Don't know when we can get together for the suggested pic but, in the meantime....

For those who've quit analogs and now find secondhand smoke objectionable, Norma agrees but I enjoy being around smokers. On the other hand, I soon got disgusted with the smell on my clothing, ashtrays and everything else associated with analogs but second hand smoke and the smell of a cigarette burning.

Well, nansc....thanks, and I'm slowly picking my way through the list....only found VEC so far at a member's operation but haven't seen him in the site list. I'll keep on looking because I really like our VEC tankers.

ComfortablyNumb....that was really a shocker for us. Required absolutely no will power and I have no way of explaining that except for the serious desire we shared to quit for the past 6 years or so. We're really having fun with the equipment and extra cash to drop at yard sales and such.

Thanks again to all of you for the warm welcome and good words.

Welcome to ECF n9emz and congratulations on being smoke free. Isn't it wonderful :)

Thank you....absolutely resides in the realm of the unimaginable. Thirty-plus years after beating gambling, Rx drugs, alcohol, et al I'd begun to believe I'd go like my dad, puffing to within hours of the end. Something so simple as this. I'm taking great pleasure now in seeing my friends switch and reading the stories of everyone else who has.

You and all, have a most wonderful weekend.

On the OP, that is great...!!! I am not as expreienced as yourself with analogs but this is truly the best attempt and the BEST I have EVER felt in quitting. Nothing has compared to Vaping in this effort and I do believe I have smoked my last Marlboro.

We have a retail store in my town where I live, they deal in nothing but ecig devices and accessories. I told the owner from the very first day I met him that I want to be a testimonial to his business and vaping. I am on my way.

GL to you!!

Good story. I wonder how hard the tobacco company's are hurting thus far. Have we made a dent? Can u see the Marlboro ecig on the market... I would not put it past them since they put people at risk for money lets see them do some good for a change. I still hack "lung butter". Pretty gross really. Thats one reason id like to get the better PV's and see if I can reduce the mg.

Thank you and I believe everyone else will agree you're already a success story too. Keep it up and good luck right back.

I don't think the tobacco industry will ever be significantly hurt by us. I went to several NASCAR events where RJ Reynolds had booths set up and gave away 2 free cartons per person who qualified only by showing over-18 ID. I'm sure there are other such things going at at numerous events in the US and abroad. It's also long been a fact that the US tobacco manufacturers give away cigarettes in other countries where US law doesn't apply....even to children in third world countries.

On the flipside, I do see a threat looming over vapers. Shortly after the '08 elections, a $24-per-lb federal tax was placed on raw tobaccos that hit the roll-your-own smokers hard. With the current prevailing political climate, I wonder how long it will be before we're hit with such taxation?

I no longer have any morning hacking and habitual dry or discolored phlegm coughing I experienced for years with analogs. I now have only occasional coughs producing small amounts of clear phlegm that I attribute to humidity and the e-cig vapor inhaled.

Welcome esf n9emz and conratz on quitting the stinkies! I too smoked for quite a while, 36yrs or so and am thrilled with this whole PV experience.

This:

has been my experience as well, and is one of the better side effects of vaping.
