Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on giving up the smokes! Give yourself some time. Your body is just revolting at having those years of junk put into your lungs. That should get better in a little while. Keep up the good work, and you'll start noticing a difference in the way you feel, taste, smell and your energy level should start increasing

That's fantastic, Snerlemiter! My son became a vaper while I was still a smoker, and helped/shamed me (I kid, LOL) into switching to vaping about 6 weeks ago by quitting vaping completely and gifting me all his gear. It's so awesome when we start catching up to our kiddoes progress! Though, I am not ready to quit vaping yet :)

Welcome to ECF and I hope you find your questions answered and enjoy the community! There's nothing like a great success story :) !

Welcome to ECF!

Congrats on your decision to quit smoking!

I'm a couple of years younger than you but I smoked for about the same years.

Yes, you will cough for awhile because your lungs are clearing out the tar that has accumulated.

I've been off tobacco now for over three years and I feel better than I did even a year ago. It takes awhile for the lungs to heal but they will.

Hey folks, been two months vaping after 35 yrs smoking. Luckily my son got me a Smok AL85 and it's great.Still coughing a bit, but after smoking 35 yrs It might take awhile to clear up.

Welcome and congrats.......... yes, it will take awhile for your lungs to get rid of all the resins and tar. I smoked for 40 years and it took quite some time for the lungs to clear out.

    Welcome and congratulations :D

Also i'm only 25 but i feel very humbled seing older folks trying to quit smoking with vaping. Reminds me of an elderly women i saw at my bus stop about 2 weeks ago she asked me a ton of question while waiting ahah answered everything as best i could and directed her to the vape shop i was going at. Most likely i'll never hear from her again but i still feel good knowing she might quit smoking with vaping.
