When I stopped smoking, I was counting by the hour. Every hour was a success. And since I'd always thought I couldn't quit, every hour was amazing.

Earlier today, I passed the 666 hour mark of not smoking. (I'll save you the math - 4 weeks.) I'm still amazed at how well vaping works. I tell people that my PV is a pocket sized miracle. :)

I had smoked for over 30 years, and I was a very heavy smoker, averaging over 3 packs a day when I bought a PV. I'd heard of e-cigs, and I had some friends who used one occasionally, but I didn't know anyone who had quit with them or who used them on a daily basis. I'd had a drag off of one once, and wasn't impressed. But these were all "cigarette look-alike" style mini's.

Then I got a phone call from a friend who lives out of state. He had bought one, quit smoking right away, and he was very impressed. So I started thinking about it, and doing some research. That led me to ECF. I believe finding ECF before I started was a very important step.

So after reading and asking questions, I decided I'd get an eGo. I discovered that Vaporescence had a store just up the road from me, so I bought there, where I could see it before I bought it, and I could ask questions and such.

I didn't really expect it to work. After all, I'd been smoking for 30+ years, I'd tried to quit multiple times, and nothing ever worked. Quitting meant getting jittery and angry, it meant me hating the world and the world hating me. I never lasted long. I didn't think I could quit.

But I figured I'd try it. And as soon as I started, I cut way back on how much I smoked. A few weeks later, when I realized that a lot of the cigs I was smoking were "habit" cigs, and that I often lit them and immediatly thought "Dang, I didn't need that, I should have just vaped", I started thinking "This might actually work."

Eventually, I was down to 10-15 cigs a day, and the after-meal cravings were my real problem. I got some juice with a higher nic level, and started dripping it when I had cravings. As soon as I started doing that, I quit smoking.

I bought my eGo on July 15th. I smoked my last cig on Oct 6th, 2011. And I expect to post again in early October of 2012, when I hit one year. I'm very confident that I'll make it.

I'm around smokers a lot. I go dancing at a bar where smoking is allowed, and I have friends who smoke. Being around smokers doesn't bother me, and I don't have much trouble with temptation. I do feel some temptation, but it's easy to say "No, I'll just vape" and move on.

Before I discovered vaping, I didn't have a choice. I was addicted, and when I'd try to quit, it was just horrible. Now, thanks to my eGo, I have a choice.

vaping has set me free. :)

I'd like to think all of you at ECF. Reading other peoples success stories did a lot to help convince me that it was worth trying, and worth sticking with. Advice from ECF helped me learn about various PV's, hardware options, flavors, how to find the nic level I needed, and more. You guys gave me support when I needed it.

Without ECF, I'm pretty sure I'd still be smoking. Thank you!

I just talked to a friend I haven't seen for awhile. Last time we talked, I was vaping, but still smoking a little.

She had smoked for even longer than I had. When I started using my ego, she didn't think it would last, because she had tried a cig-look-alike mini e-cig and it didn't do much for her. But she had seen me cut down so much, and I was so happy with it even when I was still smoking a few cigs, that about 10 days ago, she went and bought an eGo ket herself. She told me she hasn't had a cig in 9 days.

Better yet, her daughter that lives with her has been using the other battery from that kit, and she's quit smoking, too.

Makes me feel good. :)

Baldr ... Ya Done Good. 50 Years here. I tell everyone the same thing you do ... my PV is a small miracle. Congrats! Almost everyone I socialize with wants info on e-cigs, either for their self or for someone in their family that smokes and the first thing I say is go to ECF and read the success stories. Your story is great proof it works, especially after 3 packs a day. Be proud.
