I heard that if you do soak in isopropyl that you are supposed to use at least 90% isopropyl (not 70%) and also that you don't need (and shouldn't) rinse in water afterward because one advantage of using it is that it will completely evaporate 100% without leaving any trace behind (whereas water can leave solids, especially tap water).

I dunno.. Why risk it? If it's harmful to drink it, why would you want to take the chance on inhaling it?

Just my 2c!

.... Or you could look at this this way: What's in the tap water? When you rinse in tap water, particulates remain in the atomizer - hard water remnants. Can it be safe to vape that? I don't know. I don't think either way can be more hazardous than smoking cigarettes anyway so I don't worry about it too much.

Just don't soak in arsenic. :)

I read somewhere that when cleaning attys above 90% IPA should be used and not 70%....Anyone care to explain why?

I thought it just had something to do with it evaporating completely 100%. The more water volume, the more particulates etc. can be left behind, so the higher alcohol % the better (I just found 99% isopropyl at the store yesterday). I could be wrong, that's what I think I remember about it.

I have no idea where I'm at
I had a really gunked up atty so I used vodka, just in case it doesn't get completely dry. I just didn't want to use alcohol and if you look around, many of the veteran vapers use vodka. I just stick the atty in a test tube, fill it with vodka, cap, shake, and let sit for about 24 hours. That usually does the trick.
