Or you could try a pass-through, they look like a standard kr808 but plug into the wall/usb/car charger @ 5V.

I have 2 but those are not easily used as i have an 11 month old.

I won't Mind buying a new batt but would like it to fit 808's and be a steady 4v or higher all the time.

There are adapters for 510 to 901/808 and many mods have the option for an 808 connector. So, just about any mod that can handle different battery configurations will do. The Mako Maksi comes to mind, but there are lots of other tube mods that can handle the 4.8v battery electronicstix sells (and there will soon be at least two more places selling the same or similar 4.8/5v battery)

I use 808 cartomizers. I have over 100. So I would like to get a larger volt batt that would fit these. The mako seems to use a separate Atty, and then cart attach. Is this the case? How long does the mako last on a full charge for a non chain gaping person? I vape a few puffs every hour or so.

I guess I don't get this unit. What I'm after is a large battery that fits 808 cartomizers. Pretty much same as the normal 808 but 4v or higher.

You can get the Mako Maxsi with an 808 connection.... or a 510 or a 801 if you want. Your cartos will screw right in to it if you get the 808 connection. Then, you would need the 5v battery they sell for it (it's actually a 4.8v battery that comes off the charger around 5.0 volts and drains to around 4.6v).

There are other tube mods that can handle the same battery and have an 808 connector. Or you can get a tube mod that takes the same battery with a 510 connector and use a 510 to 808 adapter. If you want to save a few bucks, you could look at the rough stack with 808 connector and get the 5.0v battery from electronicstix (madvapes will have the same battery soon)

EDIT: If you look at the rough stack, you'll need the long body and not the one I linked to - you'll need to email them because it isn't sold with the long body and 808 together on their site but they'll sell it to you that way.

You are saying that you want to stay above 4.0v. Without a variable voltage mod, to stay above 4.0v, the solution is the 5.0v battery (which is actually a 4.8 but for several reasons, everyone calls it 5.0) or a 5.0v box mod. Otherwise, you need to go Variable Voltage. Something like the Buzz or the ProVari. Both the Buzz and the Provari are well loved by the majority of their owners and you'll find many reviews and comments about them in the review section of the forum.

i am not sure what i want exactly lol. i would just like to vape at a higher volt to try to get more vapor and hotter vapor. so i thought that by trying out a 5v mod type i could obtain that. say i go with this mako mod, do you know the average life of the batt before needing to be recharged?

You can use the 808's on any "better battery" PV such as the GLV2 (5 volts) or the Darwin variable volt, just to name two examples. You just have to use a 501 to 808 adapter

i normally use mine at work off of my pc usb port, is that not good?

No, it's not. There have been several reports on ECF where the power drain from the pass-through killed the mother board of the PC. I even ask my computer tech guy about it and he said it definitely wasn't a good idea.

Plus you are not getting true 5 volt vaping plugged into a computer USB port either. Get a good 5 volt/2 amp USB to AC adapter that plugs into a wall outlet and you will be fine and be getting true 5 volt performance.

Here is an example of one: http://www.nitelitevapor.us/shop/ar...B-Power-Adapter.html?shop_param=cid=1&aid=78&

i can not see how the mobo would die since most auto shutdown in case of low power. i am a network admin with my bach and i doubt that a 5v drain would hurt the mobo. now draining the power supply down and possibly causing that to over heat and shutdown the PC, i could see. Also when you keep items plugged in like drink warmers or foot slipper warmers or even an ipad while charging pulls a nice current from the power supply, i cant imagine the PT being worse.

just my .02$

I'm just telling you what has been reported by others on ECF as well as our IT tech guy. It does make sense that you will not be getting true 5 volt vaping when plugged into a computer.

The cheapest way to try a higher voltage is to try something like the 5V box mod at Madvapes. As little as you vape
it would probably last a couple days between charges. I think they come with 510 connection but an adapter would only
cost a few dollars. ( it screws into the 510 connection and then you screw the 808 carto onto it )

does using a connector have any effect on the vape? make less or more vapor?

also can you post a link to what you are referring to? i see a lot of items on their site, kind of confusing to my newbish eyes :)

Nope, an adapter is like an extension cord for the power to the atty.

Here's a link for a 5v box they have in stock.

If everything is working perfectly, it shouldn't effect the amount of vapor. Unfortunately, things don't always work perfect. I use a connector with my GLV2 and have had the following problems: center post not making good contact with carto, adaptor falling apart, liquid getting into the center hole and pushing the brass pin down too far on the GLV2 itself, such that it won't fire it's native carto:( Ugg! I'm starting to hate adaptors:blink:

The 5.0v battery electronicstix sells is rated at 600 mah. For many (most?) people, that roughly translates to between 5 and 7 hours of good vaping. And, that battery will work in pretty much any mod that will accept an 18650 battery. You could go with practically any tube mod that will hold that size batt. There are several less expensive ones and many more expensive ones. I linked to that one just because its price is somewhere in the middle of the road and it is a nice looking mod.
