Okay, I am not sure if this an original idea, but here is what I have been doing:
Take a 901 whistle-tip cartridge, remove the foam core and replace with a porous, wickable material. In my case, I use generic, un-scented, baby wipes, which I have rinsed and dried.
Cut the material length-wise to fit just under the length of the cartridge, roll it up to where it fits snugly in the cart. If it sticks out beyond the cart, trim it, or, push it down in there to where it doesn't extend beyond the length of the cart.
Then, moisten the material with a few drops of PG or VG.
Take the plastic end cap and o-ring out of the cartomizer and replace with the cartridge filter. I place it in rather carefully so as to not compress the batting/atomizer element. vape away!

Why I do this and what I've learned:
-I started doing this as I like the 901 whistle-tip and had read somewhere that someone had been using the whistle-tip on the cartomizers (may have been Mary Kary?).
-I thought by using a filter, if any coloring or burning occurs, perhaps I could filter out the larger particles, thereby (hopefully) reducing harm.
-I have discovered that I get a lot of vapor.
-That the cartom. stays moist longer, extending the life of the cartomizer, especially since I use a HV USB passthrough which was burning up my carts too fast.
-I have to top off much less frequently; when I do, it is easy to take out the tip, drip, and resume!
I pretty much do this on every cart now... I am amazed at the amount of vapor I get. If someone has already presented this idea, let me know so I can give credit where it is due.
Try it and see what you think!
