Empire 901 Drip Shields The "cut" version sells out really fast. I got in on some because I did the "notify" email and caught them soon after they were listed. They still have the solid and flat in colors.

Just to get this started. I have already reported that the Blue DS is virtually identical to the Blue Reo; run just before this latest.

And

The Purple DS matches my shinny purple Reo exactly. I don't know if the color has changed much in the later runs of anodization but couldn't be off much.

Today..... The Red matches my Red Reo Grand and Mini from a couple of runs ago.

The Gold matches the brass on the Woods almost exactly.

The Bronze has some purple cast to it and is very close to the purple of my old Purpleheart Woody from early last year. The Woody is still very purple; much more so than shows up in my avatar. The purplish in the bronze is much more evident when held up to the paduak wood red.

Bronze will look good with just about any of the lighter woods, but personally I'm not crazy about it with the red paduak wood.

Black and Silver, are pretty shinny and match the black Reos and polished and brushed Reos but much shinnier than the silver. I'm going to do a brushing on the raised parts of a silver shield to look better with the silver (maybe)

Gunmetal and Green are the only two I haven't matched with our Reos. They are waiting at the UPS store.

I'm pretty sure the gunmetal will look spectacular on the silver/silver and others.

Personally, I think the shields are a little bulky on the Minis, but that is personal only. It won't keep me from blinging the Minis up, once in a while, with the DSs.

Sorry, no time for pictures.

Going to be fun to see combo pictures.

The shield Keith has come out with have made the 901's all worthwhile to use again in my opinion, I had a ton of them sitting in a box and probably wouldn't have ever used them again if he didn't come out with the Empire Drip shield, great job Kieth has done with these ;-)

I have 901s waiting to be used. And I'm so glad Keith was cohersed into doing more colors. It's almost as if he is using the same color mixtures as Rob's anodizers use as they match so perfectly.

In a week or so I hope to be playing with all of my toys.

Well thats good news about the gold.

I have a gold solid and a gold straight (smooth) that should be here in less than an hour :)

Just what I wanted them for ... to match on my woodvils :):):):)

I held my gold solid right up against an old and new Wood Reo; couldn't ask for a better match. I have one brass DT, too, but it's an 801. I'm figuring the Caramel Pawns will be a close second for a brass DT.

Here is a pic of the Gold Straight and the Gold Solid Empire Drip Shields on my two Woodvils.

Right now they are purely cosmetic .... They are on Boge Stainless cartos and they fit great.

The Caramel pawn is on a 3Ω at 5 volts .... Yummy .... With Boba's Bounty.
The Bumble Bee pawn is a 2Ω at 3.7 with Gorilla juice.

Not an exact match but I'm pretty darn happy with the look.
I think as the catch cup ages it will darken to be a perfect match. The color of the shield should not change its anodized.

I bought them just to give the Woodvil a different look than black or stainless sticking out the top.

I think I might spring for a few more colors to brighten up my BLACK GRAND.
Don't think I would put one on the mini ... thats my small and light travel rig.

Well I have about 6 hours in on the IKV 1.8Ω 901.......... I'm enjoying it so far.

Just what I need, another atty that I like. I'll give it a couple of weeks on one of my REOs and see how it holds up.

Draw = perfect for my taste (with or without the drip shield)
Taste = awesome
TH = darn good

Not much else to say.
As far as the drip shields it actually made my wife get up off the couch and come over to pick up the woodvil and take a look.
If you knew her, thats pretty darn impressive.

It makes some good bling thats for sure. And serve a purpose on 901 attys
It serves a purpose on 510s with an adapter on mods with no catch cup .... but on the REO I would rather skip the adapter and just let the juice flow into the cup.

Like I said the shields fit perfect on a Boge carto (stainless) .... I don't think you would get it on one with the black sticker.
No purpose there except for bling :)

Picked up the other DSs yesterday. I happened to have green Mini with me (of course I opened package in parking lot) AND the Green DS is as perfect match as the others.

So glad everyone is happy with them.

BH I think your lighting for picture maybe accentuates the difference in the brass and gold. In most lighting they will probably look like a closer match. But as you said, "close enough".

I'll report later on the gunmetal.

That and the fact that I polished my brass catch cups a few days ago :)
In a couple of weeks they will be a perfect match again.

Maybe I am just being silly, but I freaking love these things.

A) for the 901 they serve an important purpose ... no more leaky 901 atty :)
B) I think they look cool as heck ... especially on the woodvil.

I'm so glad I tried them (and a 901 attys so far). I am going to get some more colors to match my pawn drip tips.

I need a purple for the burple and a red for my cherry chocolate :)
What a cool way to change up my black/black grand.

Going to get a few more gold too. I wan't to see what a gold cut style looks like with my SS contoured Super-T tip
And I need at least one more gold for my impending Weevil purchase :)

MWA, btw, I really like your avatar. I was trying to figure out how to get all my Reos and one Phidias into one shot. The shadows are great.

Yup he's come a long way Westamyx, I have the very first Empire Beta Mod and I still use it all the time, they make for great dripper toys, the shields also work not only on 901's but set up correctly with the right stealth adapter they work great on 510 Attys too, no more liquid running out the bottom of the 510's as well, I really like the dam things they make for a no muss no fuss PV no matter what mod you put them on, I have a habit of always dripping to much juice to so for me there perfect.!!!

I just got all mine out and lined up in a row. Hopefully I'll have time, today, to take a picture of them lined up and later, but not today, pics of them showing the matching colors of DSs and Reos. Total count 15. I don't have any flat, smooth ones, but I think I have enough for now.

One, the solid black, is shorter than the others, like the top has been cropped off. This may be a manufacturing defect, but it does have the top washer. This is not all bad as I had thought about trimming one to use with a 510, on Reo, without having to use an adapter, to lengthen the 510 and/or use a skinny DT. BTW... A skinny, long, DT will allow you to use the DS on a 510, on a Reo. I've used the solid blue DS with a long blue/white swirled 510 DT from COV, on Blue Grand, but you would need to use a lengthening adapter (or set of adapters, 510 to 901 and 901 to 510 combo) or 510 charging extension, or such, to use a DT, that has a wide base, such as a CV Ming or Pawn.

The shortened solid black DS does have exposed shinny silver, on the top, so I might cover that with magic marker.

I just pulled my caramel Pawns. They look even prettier on the oak Woodvil than BH's picture shows although the picture is quite beautiful and well done. As we all know, it is hard to capture the true, in-person beauty and magic of our beloved Reos.

I agree Alice, they do look much better in person.
The pic makes the caramel look darker than it really is. Its actually lighter with much more swirl to it in person :)

I am not a fan of the 901's and never have been but bought few DS's and a few 901's to check out. I am still not a 901 fan.

But I did drop a 501/510 adapter on a LR510 and installed it that way. Works relay good. It seams to dry the vape out a bit and I like that. I am always running my attys at almost dry any way.

I did drill out the two holes on the DS for better air way using a 1/16th drill bit and added two more holes. I am using them on a Woodvila and a Grand. I like them. I will order more. I will next check it out on the Mini.

LOL I also mod'd a 306 today using a tube from a CE2 cutting it down to the same size as a 510 atty and it works well.

I will post photos latter this week.
