In my opinion, manual batteries is the only way to go, whether it be the 901, 510 etc... Manual batteries are sealed and therefore can be used without fera while dripping.

Automatic batteries have a greater failure rate than manuals. FWIR the activaor/diagphram/whatever will stick after a period of use. Having said that, the odd manual battery can have sticky switches as well. The latter is insignificant when compared to reported problems of auto batts.

Not all manual batteries are sealed, 510 manual bats are sealed but 401 and 801 are not, so either of those manual models can still have juice enter them and cause problems if care is not taken.

As for the 901, I am not sure if it is sealed or not, but my guess is since its big brother the 801 manual is not sealed the 901 may not be.

The later model automatics have come a long way. The automatics can be very responsive and are great for hands free operation. I find when working in a shop with greasy hands, the automatic is the best thing since sliced bread. My experince is not based on the 901 model however..

That's what I thought, but who am I to argue with a vendor :)

Hey I'm allowed to be wrong sometimes too ;)

Back when I used an 810, which wasn't that long ago, all the manuals I had were not sealed. I remeber at that time people were calling the manuals "sealed", but none I ordered were sealed.

2 lessons there,

1) until someone sees a 510, they may not know what sealed is.

2) make sure when you order the supplier knows what they are stocking, as the old non-sealed stock is still going to be out there.

... same as suppliers slipping LS2s in large orders of stock 510 atties to vendors.
