A bit of advice, if you'll indulge me...

Hi everybody, I was just wondering if I could get a little bit of technical support. I've recently started trying to make my own e-liquid mixtures, and I gotta say it's not going very well. I have nicotine, flavorings, pg and vg liquids, the whole shebang, but every recipe I try to mix up ends up tasting sour and off.

Is there a tutorial document up anywhere that will teach me from the ground up how to do this, and if so could I get a url? Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if there's an affordable DIY starter kit out there somewhere that would be great. Oh, and I'm at over eight months with 0 analogs.

Thanks in advance

TPA's flavorings taste that way to me...sour and off. I went to using the super concentrated flavorings from ecigexpress. It's very easy to work with and I haven't had an "off" taste yet. Also, ecigexpress (ECX) sells Essence flavorings which is Hangsen's flavorings...another group of awesome flavorings.

I was getting sour/off flavours when mixing Capellas at the "recommended" 15-20%. Since dropping single flavours to ~5-8% and highlights to 1-3% it's been a world of difference. My most complicated recipe so far is sitting at around 15% total for 3 different flavours. Any more than that and it starts to get funky.

If flavoring is the problem, reading Hoosier's blog (click on the 3 under his post count) will help alot. When I started I found using recommended % a big help with all flavors until you were used to them (now I still do research before I mix)

Using these E-Liquid Recipes as a guideline helps as well. I always end up using a little EM (or cotton candy) at the end of a mix, a couple frops of lemon juice (Sold out of those plastic lemons at the produce isle), and a 1-2 week steep! If you skip the steep it MAY taste nasty and artificial.

Case in point, I made a large batch of rootbeer float juice for my husband. He tried it after a couple days and said it was horrible. The vanillia tasted so artificial and fake. The root beer was just nasty. They were made with TPA flavors. It was put in the back of the shelf and left to sit for 3 weeks. He tried it again and said it was one of the best flavors I have made for him. I had to order more Root Beer and have 60ml steeping for him currently

Steeping time is important. It lets the flavors mellow out and do their magic. Maybe the flavor molecules want some sweet lovin time!
