Good day, fine REOfam.

My wife's new Mini is having some intermittent misfires, meaning is won't fire every time. I'd say one out of every 50 or so tries, it fails to fire. It seems that the RM2 is fine, post screws are tight, etc. When we slide open the door and rotate the battery, it seems to fix the problem. Could it be that the battery is moving away from the back wall of the mod toward the door a bit and missing? What's a good way to keep the battery against the back wall securely? Black electrical tape? The batteries are brand new AW IMR 18490s from RTD vapor. Any thoughts from my intelligent family of REOfreaks? :)

Maybe wrap a rubber band or two around the battery to secure it in place.

I've got a woodvil where the spring is not perfectly aligned under the battery. So time to time the spring slips to the left and isn't making full contact with the battery. At that point I take a nonconductive dumaflechy i.e.: toothpick or wooden match, and push the spring under the battery to sit properly for full contact. Doesn't happen often but there you go. :2c:

The part of Canada that doesn't get enuf Snow :(
its dirty. If spinning the batt works your getting oxidation and yes you can get it even with the new contacts clean her up real good put some deoxit on the fire pine and give that a shot :)

and or does she have a button topper ? if so disregard my first comment for a moment and pry the topper off for a bit and try that they sometimes slip down just a bit to sometimes stop the connection

I was having the same issue with my new mini and the button top AWR IMR 18490 very recently. I wound up moving the firing pin just the tiniest smidge toward the door and that did the trick. I also received this advise from Njt07 which I will try if I experience the same issue again.

One thing I ended up doing with my mini (14500) was take a old credit card/store card/some plastic and cut a strip about .5 inches wide by about 1.5 inches long. take a ruler, or just by hand and crease the center of the plastic lengthwise so it looks like a wide "V". Place the plastic on the right side of where the battery would go in and then wedge your battery in. the crease int eh plastic keeps the battery shoved over so the firing pin hits the battery dead center each time

So when it misfires it keeps misfiring until you move the battery? Does a little pressure at the top of the battery fix it or do you need to spin the battery?

So if just pressure at the top fixes it then move the firing pin, if twisting fixes it then clean and deoxit on pin, spring and battery contacts

From what I can tell you may be able to fix this by just bending slightly outwards the spring. I would check first of all if the spring is straight? I suspect your spring may be slightly bent inwards and puts more pressure on the wall side of the battery. Just a thought, hope I can help

How often should the noalox be applied?
For me I did mine about 3 months ago but I run a 1 ohm coil . If your a lung burner and vape below .5 once a week would be my best guess . The lower in ohms you go the more maintenance you have .

For a regular vaper I would say once a month would be more then enough

I use one grand 3 months no maintenance 6 ml a day not bad

I also run 1 ohm coils and wash and deoxit every other month, unless of course I drop it in the dirt or kick it down a gravel road.:p

^ This! I vape everything at about .5 ohms, and I can see the oxidation on the battery top within a few days... If I don't clean and apply deox, I'll get misfires or low power hits where I have to spin the battery a little to bring it back to life. I pretty well have to clean my battery and contacts along with applying noalax once a week to stay ahead of it... and I vape about 6mls a day.

The battery in one of mine sorta slides around. Someone suggested tearing a business card and putting it between the bottle and battery and it worked. It holds it more in place. Been using that for a few months now and works fine now.
If your battery is moving you are a button masher the mods do not require cards or tape to run perfectly . Just keep saying I am a button masher I am a button masher I will not mash the button anymore

I had the same issue with mine a while back. I run AW batteries in mine and the magnet on the door would magnetize to the side of the battery and pull it out of its cradle a little. I spun the battery around until i found a spot the magnet didn't catch, and I was back in business.
You could be a button masher I dont see that little magnet pulling your battery out of place
